I like noise, usually, when I am not trying to do math.
Noise by choice.
I once had a neighbor playing electric guitar with no melody whatsoever over many many many many hours, eight feet away from where I was trying to think.
Noise can be invasive.

Sure, it can be, I concede. I merely point out the diversity of tolerance levels.

Kenmore.
I remember looking up what it really was, before they stuck the Kenmore label on it, but I forget what I learned.

Whirlpool is the same as Kenmore.

The cheapest Kenmore they make is the one that doesn't dry the dishes.

It's not a bad idea to once a year or so connect a garden hose to the value of the bottom of your water heater and drain at least half of the tank to wash out the silt that settles on the bottom of the tank.

That's something most persons neglect to do.

Have we done that this year, Bob?

Guess I'm the strange one here who doesn't like lots of noise, although driving back to Denver last year heading right into a magnificent sunset with Pink Floyd blasting, was an experience I'll never forget. I've never been so high without smoking a joint.

I don't hear well, so maybe I resent background noise that prevents me from hearing people I care about. Noise works well if there is someone I really don't like and don't want to hear. Twisted Evil

How do you manage to listen to The Mothers of Invention "Absolutely Free" if you don't like lots of noise?

If any of you do drain your hot water tanks, watch the drain valve afterwards. They sometimes start to drip after being opened.

Thanks for the tip, Eblythe, re making sure no dripping from the drain valve.

On noise, I think I exaggerated about liking it. I like my chosen noise, Verdi on loud as I drive through the redwoods, and I used to love rock and roll fairly loud. And that may or may not have something to do with my hearing loss. (Was it the basketball upside the head, from the court behind us, or the retinitis pigmentosa syndrome, or some behavior of mine re being around music? or plain old random ear kerfluffle?)

I think that I've been sensitive to noise long before any hearing loss, perhaps because I live so much inside my own head and some noise is interruptive ..many times.

What makes them drip after being opened? Is it sort of like putting detergent oil in an old, dirty car?

Probably buildup from the water keeping the valve from shutting completely.
