I'll try that but I have no problem falling to sleep. It's staying asleep, or waking up once and being able to immediately going back to sleep, that's the problem.

This won't keep you from waking up, but 'one breathing' can help you get back to sleep.

Inhale slowly and deeply, forcing your thoughts to stay empty.
Exhale slowly while thinking the word, 'onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnne'

Repeat, never using any other word. Don't count how many times you've done it or think about anything but breathing in slowly (and deeply) and exhaling to the word 'one'. It shouldn't take more than a minute or two before you've increased the oxygen levels in your bloodstream to reach a relaxation state that allows you to sleep.

Waking up in the night and not being able to fall back asleep is often associated with rapid thoughts and shallow breathing. 'One breathing' turns both of those events off.

My inability to sleep comes in cycles and I'm back in one <<sigh>> If I really really need to sleep right through the night I take Valerian. It doesn't leave me feeling hung over in the morning. It's an herbal remedy but I still don't like to take it all the time. (Warning -- keep bottle tightly closed as it smells awful.)

Could be, your old man needs a dose of Viagra, too.

See a physician. You might need medication to help you dream and release your inner conflicts.

Five months ... though I had a moment last month where I thought I was PMSing, but then thought naaaaaaaah, can't be, I must be done.

Crap.

I feel like I'm 15 again, and it's not good. Sore boobs, cramps. All the good stuff <sneer>

When I'm late, the cramps etc are always worse. Like it's been saving up. Though I never went five months. I can't imagine - what a surprise! Confused

I'm so irregular I never know when it's going to hit. I skipped November through February two years in a row and then had looooooong periods beginning in March, including two 10 day events only six days apart in June!

Thanks, gals, for bumping this thread. I've been using it instead of a calendar. Laughing

It's been since Aug. 10 last year, so I'm getting very close to a whole year now. Everybody cross their fingers for me, okay?
