But who am I pissed at???

Oh, it's definite. You're still menopausal. Laughing Laughing Laughing

It's been since the first of November for me. <crossing fingers> The migraines are very few and far between now and I've been able to cut the antidepressants in half. So there is progress.

Hang in there, Bethie.

We'll live through this.

Eva, I think I'm having both yours and mine. My regular checkup is scheduled for mid March. I called the gynie today to discuss a current issue and before I got off the phone I had an appt for a uterine biopsy tomorrow at noon Shocked Not too sure what to make of it all. I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks, Osso. Yeah, I'm not letting myself get too frantic but waiting for the pathology report will seem like an eternity.

I think one of the earliest things I noticed in perimenopause was the need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I drink lots of water during the day but I try to stop by about 4:00 pm. Then I might sip something later but if I do I'll be up in the nighttime getting rid of it

The new thing I'm struggling with is my metabolism. I have always been thin. I was model thin as a teen and remained thin to normal until I turned 40. For the first time ever my weight started to go up. I started walking and learning/implementing good eating habits and everything was fine. Each year for the past three years I've enjoyed and then recovered from the holidays. This year I'm stuck. I weigh the exact same thing today that I weighed on January 3rd even though I've been working out and following a low cal food plan. I've never been stuck before and it's very frustrating. I've gone down a few and up a few from my January 3rd start point but fluctuations aside, I'm stuck.

I've always had insomnia for a few nights before each period. Then, once I started, I'd sleep like a baby. I can see how I might be one of those that has insomnia problems if I stop having periods.

I hear ya sister! - at least it's nice to know I'm not alone.
Sending you good health vibes>>>>>>

Thanks Soz and GW. Whoever said something about getting older not being for sissies knew what they were talking about.

Woof, dunno -- did I miss this topic before?

Anyway, I hope all goes well w/you, J_B.

Hot flashes -- at least it makes it easier to turn the heat down in the winter. I start off with a pile o' blankets and a full sweatsuit and socks (romantic, I know) when going to sleep in the winter and, in the morning, blankets are mainly on the floor or on RP, and the sweats are long gone. So I'm doing a striptease in my sleep. Socks are a mystery. One ends up on the floor and inevitably another one finds its way under the blanket cover or under the mattress pad. Makes for a nice treasure hunt on Wash Day.

Got the heating bill. This winter has been 4% warmer than usual. The bill is down 15%. Shocked

I got the biopsy results back today. No signs of malignancy and the findings (don't recall what he called it) indicate that I'm not ovulating. I'm to see how the next few cycles go and he'll give me some progesterone if I continue to have 14 day periods. <whew!>

Here's hoping that the 14 day periods will soon be a thing of the past...without the meds.

Things are definately whacko. I'm fighting a continuous urge to EAT. I'm not feeding hunger, it's more a feeling of being unsettled that I imagine food will help resolve. It doesn't, but for whatever reason that doesn't stop me from thinking more food will help.

I worked at the computer for about 12 hours yesterday. I must have made 50 trips to the kitchen to grab a handful of this or bite of that to try to settle whatever this feeling is. One would think I would learn after the first ten to twenty attempts that food is not the answer, but did that stop me? grrrrr.

Wackiness continues. No periods since the 14 days that started in late January. First missed cycle and sort of unsettling. At home pregnancy test is negative (whew).

While buying the pregnancy test kit I noticed they sell at home FSH kits now. Expensive, and not sure they're worth the cost, but still probably cheaper than getting it done by a lab.

The biopsy results indicated that I'm not ovulating, so it shouldn't be a surprise that I'm not menstruating. I had a few days of warm flushes (vs hot flashes) a couple weeks ago.

Dr asked me to check in with my next few cycles, but I haven't had any. I called this morning to tell them that and they're ordering an 'progesterone challenge' which is 10 days of progesterone to see if it triggers a period. Supposedly, if we are still producing estrogen, but not ovulating, the uterine lining will continue to build possibly causing problems with the uterus. The progesterone will trigger a period if I'm still producing estrogen and allow the uterine lining to clear, but won't if I'm not. They said I shouldn't go more than 60 days between periods if I'm still producing estrogen so my random timing of this morning's call was right on.
