Yaya has learned to repeat descriptions to make an emphasis:

"Yummy, yummy, yummy!" (regarding a cookie)

"Siwee, siwee cwowns!" (I'll have to describe her fascination with clowns in more detail. Leave it for now that the Ringling Bros. Circus was a big hit! She's been asking to "talk abou' the circus" for a week.)

Yowza. That's a beautiful shade of fuchsia!

Yes, I'm starting to remember. Well, at least she isn't yellow.

That came later. Kind of a golden-brown color. Cleared up pretty fast, though, so we didn't have to do photo therapy. (Maybe it was all of the flash bulbs? Smile)

We were drawing today.

Yaya: I 'na draw a cookie! <draws a circle then scribbles furiously inside of it>
Daddy: That cookie looks yummie!
Yaya: It's not real, Da-da.

Now, don't you feel silly?

Some of my greatest laughs were when I was given that small glimps into the mind of my children at that age.

T and I were talking at lunch today; Yaya was in her high chair and had finished eating. Yaya started repeating a sound over and over, "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...."

I asked, "Whatcha doin', Yaya?"

"I going 'hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,'" she replied.

Hee hee hee...!

That's one gorgeous fuchsia baby up there. How's that all going? Sleep? Ya-ya's reactions?

Sleep's OK. Chiquita (AKA Cheetah, AKA Kee-tah) is much calmer than Yaya was. I don't know if that's temperament or parenting skills.

Yaya loves "Kee-tah." Always wants to hug her or kiss her, always tries to comfort her when she cries. "Don't cry, Kee-tah! It's OK!"

Unfortunately, we're going through a round of illness right now. T and Yaya have sinus infections and are on antibiotics. Yaya coughed so hard tonight that she threw up. Sad

This too, will pass.

You must be yearning for uninterruped sleep.

While KeeTah may or may not be calmer than her older sister, her older sister has gifted them with a wealth of infomation which helps parental calm.

Yaya has been experimenting with food going in her ears. (We think now that it was a mistake to explain that Chiquita ate through her belly button when she was in Mommy's tummy.) This has been exacerbated by the doctor pretending that there was a kitty and a doggy in her ear when she went in for a check.

T. and I were talking today when Yaya runs up and says, "I need help!"

"What do you need help with, sweetie?"

"Beena!"

"What banana?"

"Inna hoe's" (Pointing at her rocking horse.)

"A banana in the horse?"

"Yeah! Get the beena outta th' hoe's!"

"Where's a banana in the horse?"

"Right heah!" (Points at one of the handles and peers in.)

(I look in the handle, thinking she's playing a game. Sure enough, though, there's a piece of banana wedged in there! She helped get it out with a toothpick.)

Yaya has also been experimenting with mashing food into her hair. Apparently this behavior has its rewards. T. caught her in the act today and asked, "What are you doing, Yaya?"

"I take a shower with Mommy!"

Yesterday T was teaching Yaya about "shiny."

Momma asks, "What's something shiny on Daddy's face?" (Referring to my glasses.)

Yaya responds, "Daddy's head is shiny!" Confused

While driving to meet T's dad for dinner:

"Yaya, can you show Grandpa how to do patty-cake?"

"No, momma, he's not here!"

Today while T was out shopping a lady stopped to talk to Yaya.

"You're very cute!" she said.

"I'm a big ham!" Yaya replied.

lol! That she is! Also a little reminder that they repeat EVERYTHING, so have to be careful what one says.

Thanks for the new pic. She's such a doll!

So Yaya's been learning to tell a joke that she got out of one of her books: What goes zzub, zzub, zzub? A bee flying backwards.

She's gotten pretty good at it... but it's the only joke she knows how to tell.

T started teaching her a new joke: What time is it when an elephant sits on your fence? Time to buy a new fence.

This went through a number of iterations as we drove home.

The first try was as we're driving by the car dealership. "What does an elephant do? A balloon!"

After that, I tried to explain the joke to her, saying that since an elephant is big, it would break the fence and you would have to buy a new one.

Next it was, "What does an elephant do? Breaks a fence!"

She continued telling the joke to us, each time making the punch line more elaborate.

"Breaks a fence! Time out!"

"Breaks a fence! Time out, elephant!"

"Breaks a fence! Time out, elephant. One minute!"
