Rice - getting away from "Punish France, ignore Germany..."?

I don't understand this....perhaps it's better not to ask.
I never had any problem sending or receiving PMs, not that many people want to write to me.
I did not know it was a privilege.

For what it's worth.

Lift the ban! Let freedom ring!

Another innocent here on the PM front, will also pass on any commentary. May I however reiterate my previous request for Walter to please find (if possible) and post Goethe's poem which uses only French words?

I looked in the Goethe sites but can't find it without the title. Thanks!

Hoft - I tried to found it, but failed. One more hint about it, i.e. a word or two?

Francis - it's not one of his better-known poems, but it's really hilarious as it's written in German (of course) but using exclusively imported French words.

I'm sorry I can't recall a single stanza - tried to search in the Goethe databases using French words I know exist in German but didn't find it, so Walter is my main hope right now.

Well, HofT, you talked about that poem already some months ago.

I'm rather sure that I read it (or aboz it), too.
But - Francis noticed this as well - since it's not (so easily) to be found in the www, I promise to look for it the next time I go in the univerity library!

This poem is from the Thirty Years War:
Reverierte Dame,
Phönix meiner Ame,
gebt mir Audienz,
Eurer Gunst Meriten
machen zu Falliten
meine Patienz.

LOL - lest we all be accused of cultural subversion here allow me to provide a quick translation of that one:

"Highly honored Lady,
Phoenix of my soul,
Grant me an audience,
Your good graces
Cause a breakdown
In my patience."

Well, bugger. I may not always agree with what you say, but would defend to the death your right to PM it. Smile

(Not my own death, obviously. But you catch my drift.)

I suppose also this means that PM facility could be easily withdrawn. I'll mind my Ps and Qs more carefully, thanks for the warning.

If you haven't done it by now already, and if you still want to send PM's, please do as adviced.

(Some info can be found here and on various other threads.)

No Mctag, every member has to generate 500 posts in
order to send private messages.

So, whoever send whodda the PM should include the
email address, so he can carry on his monkey business
elsewhere. Rolling Eyes

Whooda - if you read the entry of Craven de Kere (principal programmer in this site), last page of link posted by Walter, you'll see that the alleged 500-post limit someone claimed here is wrong.

Well, this free offer was reduced by the site some months ago.
It was explained on a couple of threads.

It's really not an issue with me. Thanks for the input, though.

Whooda - there has been a lot of abuse on this forum from compulsive posters (mercifully disappeared from thread in the last couple of pages), multiple-named flakes (vast databank available on request) and spammers of all kinds including by PMs. I've never found Craven de Kere to concur to any of those activities however, so if I were you I would simply e-mail the "help" link you were given and ask for PM privileges.

Helen - I guess I'm surprised to hear of the multi-named types existing here as I thought that was the main reason for the migration from Abuzz before its demise. Too bad, especially when they start conversing with each other. Like a schizophrenic in a house of mirrors.

Again, thanks for the info.

You probably wouldn't have been up for the dinner gathering of A2Kers in Albuquerque this week I guess. Not an ax murderer in the lot I might add. Smile

Having said that, and considering the propensity of some (okay several) to focus on (malign/insult/chastise/ridicule/etc.) the messenger rather than the message, I agree with not providing too much information to those you don't know. Ann Coulter sure doesn't have the corner on meanness sometimes.

I think most offices could use a little more laughter, don't you? Maybe a Whoopee cushion in the board room every now and then? In my line, if you're not part of the give and take, you're fresh meat ... hmmm ... sounds like I'm someone's prisonbitch, but I know you catch my drift.

Sweet Jesus, I believe I'm responsible for a Exclamation DIGRESSION Exclamation Let's see if I can't get things back on topic ...

Maybe that 1/500th of a second coquettish come-on from Condi to Schroeder occurred right after she slipped a Whoopee cushion under his wrinkled old @ss?

There. I think we're back on track.

No, dinners parties aren't really my thing as I can never really remember which fork to use when scratching my privates. Guess we'll never know, though, as my invite was apparently lost in the mail.

As for the ax matter, you'll never really know unless your guests passed through a metal detector?
