I well remember picking the wrong Brunello...
the only time I've ever had Brunello.
We were in Montalcino, see... and there was this bar, tipico in that it served coffee and dolce and shots in the morning, and panini for a while, and so on.
they had a special, which we tried in late afternoon - we could have a bit of three Brunellos for what I don't remember, it might have been five dollars back then, for both of us - reasonable anyway. Much mishugas re having the glasses immaculate, but I don't remember the rigamarole.
We both liked the rosso (the youngest of the three). We were failed winos, er, oenophiles, but it was fun.
I learned about shots in the morning in Siena. We were up early, and got to the caffe across from the albergo at maybe 5:30 or 5:45. There was us, with our espressos, and the work guys, doing shots before the day ahead. These were the plasterers, hod carriers, etc.
