This is for you, Miss Letty...

It's good to have you here!

Prince, don't worry about the floor. I had it reinforced when you began coming here, because of all the women fainting.

@dagmaraka,
Do you know that a 200 year old bottle of wine was recently found in the Baltic Sea?

Wow! I'd like to have some of that sparkle. Wouldn't you Dag and Jane?

Oh! I was afraid everyone had forgotten about this place! It's so good to see all your faces here! Dag, thank you for leading them here!

Letty, Jacques will be happy to decant that wine for you. <motions to sommelier> It may take a while, though. Can he bring you something else while you wait?

Osso, that looks delicious! Are you sharing, I hope? CJ and I would love a piece. Anyone else?

<Chef Sophie appears in the kitchen door, smiling at all the commotion. It has been a long time since she has had customers to serve. Recipes start running through her mind as she strolls to the pantry to see what delectables remain...>

@Eva,
Of course I'm sharing, goddess, as zuccotti are tooooo rich to eat by oneself...

I just don't know, though; that one looks like a peach zuccotto. Would that go with vin santo or clash?

(I've only made a zuccotto once, something with a whipped cream hazelnut cocoa extravaganza in the interior - very easy in contrast to how it looks). This one got picked because the photo was the right size...

@ossobuco,
Thank you for sharing, Osso! I've certainly TRIED to eat an entire cake by myself before, haven't you?!

Oh, and about the wine...<looks around quickly to make sure Jacques isn't within earshot>...if you want vin santo, vin santo it is. It doesn't matter one whit to me if it's "correct" or not.

<more loudly> Make that TWO vin santos, Jacques!

<eyes CJ's strawberry ladyfinger cake hungrily>

Those strawberries are reminding me of the past week which I spent in the Pacific Northwest. We ate superfresh raspberries, blueberries and strawberries nearly every day. With honey-sweetened Greek yogurt. Mmmmmm......

@Eva,
Are you going to post somewhere else about that? Or here? I'd love to hear about the bits of your trip you'd be happy to share....

@ossobuco,
Oh, here's as good as anywhere. I hope to get the photos off Hubby's computer tomorrow so I can share some with you.

Meanwhile, I believe Letty's 200 year old champagne has lost its fizz. It might still be drinkable, though. Anyone care to try a little?

<Jacques carefully pours a little of Letty's "Baltic Amber" into each of the glasses>

To good friends...may they always feel welcome here.
