Oh, I wouldn't worry about coming across as too sophisticated, msolga.
I think you look just right.
Baba ganouj? Coming up!
That's not my best angle, Eva!
Soooooo unflattering!
HEY, is it midnight yet?
Or did I miss it?

It's 11:06 here, but it's just past midnight on the East Coast of the U.S.

California, my heart, will be an hour behind me. 10:09 here in New Mexico - not that I don't even now love new mexico.
My heart in california has to do with layers of my own history. But Albuquerque right now is alight in snow sparkle at the new year. I suppose it could get ominous, but not just yet. Right now it is a blanket of stars.

A little late, but in your honor, msolga....(gorgeous shot, isn't it!)
(Yes, NYC does it first here, then middle part of country where I am, then mountains like Albuquerque, then California last.)

Eva, this is the perfect party. I haven't even embarrassed myself even though I've had a couple bottles of champagne. Well, I do have an hour and a half to go. Maybe I'll just hum Yellow Rose of Texas........then softly start to snore.

An hour & a half to go, Diane!
So many of us have done it already!
It seems so unfair that you have to endure this for so long!

Hum away, Diane! I've had a little of the bubbly myself, so Texas songs won't even bother me tonight! (heehee)
17 minutes to go here!

Oops, excuse me for not introducing these two gentlemen I just picked up. Monsieur Jacques and Jean Paul or whatever...they are very friendly and very sharing and have a VERY large bottle of champagne. So, what's not to love???? Hic!

ALL TOGETHER NOW!
(Here's a chair, Diane, and a hand. Go ahead and climb up on that table!)
There's a yellow rose of Texas
That I am going to see
No other soldier knows her
No soldier, only me.
She cried so when I left her
It like to broke my heart
And if I ever find her
We never more will part.
She's the sweetest rose of color
This soldier ever knew
Her eyes are bright as diamonds
They sparkle like the dew.
You may talk about your dearest May
And sing of Rosa Lee
But the Yellow Rose of Texas
Beats the belles of Tennessee.
Oh, my heart is feeling weary
And my head is hanging low
I'm goin' back to Georgy
To find my Uncle Joe.
You may talk about your Beauregard
And sing of Bobby Lee
But the Gallant Hood of Texas
He raised Hell in Tennessee.
