A Halloween Party! What a great idea, Angelique! I'm already playing with a possible theme in my mind.

What do you think of this....in keeping with the "ghostly" theme, perhaps everyone could come as their favorite dead celebrity? Should I narrow it down? Favorite celebrity from the 1930s? 1950s?

First, may I please have a glass of White Zinfandel with a small plate of fresh fruit. I will need to keep my mouth wet while we talk. Thank you.

Thats a good idea, but what about the younger members? I found an old book from America's most memorable magazine Vanity Fair (A cavalcade of the 1920s and 1930s) that would help me pick a person. It has stories, articles, humor, photographs, art, and more.

Or, you can use your idea, and allow others to be whoever they want to be. What do you think?

I want to explain how those that cannot use images can participate in the who is the costume character or celebrity.

At this moment the forum is in slow motion, so chatting will be slow.

Until you reply I want to explain how a member that cannot use images can portray his character when used in the game guess who I am.

Now guess who I am, I will give you clues.

I was born in the land where rain falls mainly on the plain.

I'm spotted with the rainbow.

One of my images is a bull.

My women are born of circles and squares.

Who am I?

You can make the clues as simple or as hard as you want.

If it's a poet or writer, you can read short passages of his works.

A person with images makes the guessing a little easier.

Eva, Promise to write a journal (short one) and post some photos.

osso, Yes, I always read up on the places I will visit. Usually a brief history, current economy, and cultural do's and don't's.

Almost forgot. If it's a hollywood star, the person can sing, dance or act. The person can be a scientist, or anything he/she wants.

I already had my costume selected.

The trouble with images is that to transfer them one has an url for a source, and of course even if they are transferred through an intermediate photo website the source should be noted when images are used for copyright reasons, I would think.
So, we'd have to promise not to look...

So far I have been lucky with my images, and have not had any trouble yet.

I think it would make it more interesting with images, and of course we will have some members that will only be able to use text. It should even things out.

I have my costume, and quite a story to tell already. But, it's Eva party, so she decides.

Images are not necessary, but a well presented character is.

I meant that people can guess by moving the image to a new window and looking at the source. That was a worry on the travel game thread... where people guess where various places are. Not a problem if it is one of your own photos, but if it is taken from the net, then the source can be traced.
I'm not sure if it can be traced if there is an intermediate photo site, but then one would be using other peoples' images sans sourcing...

Thus my comment about an honor system about looking for the source.

Well, honestly, I just started using images. I never used images until I came here. Maybe it's because I can do more with a mac than my old pc. Every one here knows more about images than me.

The only images I used with my old pc were the avs used in the virtual excite chat rooms.

Eva seems to know a lot about images, and everything. She will have a great party, and you can give her some ideas too.

Finding images is very easy. I go to Google, click on "Images," and enter the subject I'm looking for. There's usually a wide variety from which to choose.

When I find one I like, I copy the URL. Then I start a new message here and paste it in this way:

Just type in after it. For this illustration, I put extra spaces before and after the URL...but don't do that!

Yes, but don't you want people to guess? You can see the source of the image if you (on a mac, I forget how but it is similar on a pc - something to do with clicking properties) click and hold on the image. A wee window comes up giving you the option to put it in a new window; click on that, and you will see the source at the top. Click on the source and follow it..

There is a solution to this, but then you are using the image without giving a source.
