That's okay, Walter. We'll save the German brandy chocolates for Montana and Francis. Florentines it shall be. But in honor of Osso, these are Italian.

I'm having second thoughts... I bet I posted on sfogliatelle and panforte before, on this thread, and forgot. Oh, well, can't have too much sfogliatella information.

I believe I'll have some afternoon tea - perhaps a cup of Moroccan mint green tea, in this nice cup..

Save some for Francis, Montana!

On second thought...if he doesn't show up by morning, go ahead and eat the whole box. I'll have Sophie whip up something else for him. She'll love that...she thinks he's just the cutest thing! (Don't we all?)

Look who's talking!

Still trying to decompress from trip...sleeping weird hours.

Okay, I give up. I'll see you guys in the morning. If you need anything, just ask Jacques or Sophie. That's what they're here for. Nice, pleasant, accommodating folk, and invisible when you want privacy!

Since we have left already and seats can be taken again - may I invite you to this nice winshop and small restaurant?

This is a small restaurant, recently opened in a wine shop a couple of yards away from our flat.

We had dinner there on the last evening of Mrs. Steve's and Steve's holidays here with us last week.

It wasn't only incidently Mrs. Walter's birthday but a winetasting of Nahe wines as well.

Quote:
The Nahe region is named after the river that traverses the valleys of the forested Hunsrück Hills as it gently flows toward Bingen on the Rhine. It is a peaceful landscape of vineyards, orchards and meadows interspersed with cliffs and striking geological formations. Although the Nahe is one of the smaller German wine regions, its extraordinary range of soil types is second to none. For this reason, the region is able to produce quite diverse wines from relatively few grape varieties. The steeper sites of volcanic or weathered stone, and those with red, clayish slate seem predestined for elegant, piquant Riesilng wines of great finesse and a light spiciness, while flatter sites of loam, loess and sandy soils yield lighter, fragrant Müller-Thurgau (Rivaner) wines with a flowery note. The Silvaner grape thrives in a number of soils and produces full-bodied, earthy wines.

Since the actual winetasting took place in another room, the winegrower came (frequently) to our table ...

Ah, Good Morning, Everyone! It's a beautiful day here. Wish you could all see the bright blue sky. Quite vivid today.

Walter, that restaurant/wine shop looks very nice. It's close to you? You're so lucky to live in wine country. It must be beautiful there. Especially this time of year. Harvest is coming soon, no?

1 1/2 minutes to walk ... by as seniors Laughing

Yes, it really is close to the harvest, and that's why the winegrowers have time to do such like this wine tasting evening.

I would love that.

Oh, look! Jacques has set out some grapes for us! Help yourselves! (Just eat the ripe ones.)
