@Eva,
Nah, I think she's just homesick. I hear that Minnesota is practically a German state.

@Thomas,
Minneapolis - the place to go for hot tub parties in the 1980's - lots of flight crews switched over there and good times were to be had Cool

No no, Eva, you just chose the wrong date to go to SF - next time ask, girl! Smile

I've never been to Minneapolis or Minnesota for that matter....probably because I don't like hot tubs Smile

Thomas, I thought the biggest German population is in Wisconsin?

@CalamityJane,
I've not been to Minneapolis or Minnesota either. Used to hear a lot about a Minneapolis Art Museum, but that was quite a while ago that I was paying attention. I always think of Minnesota as having a lot of Swedish people, mainly because I have had some friends from there who were Swedish.

@ossobuco,
I've never been to Minnesota, either, but my brother-in-law grew up there. Other than having a weird accent*, he seems pretty normal.

(*running joke...he insists that I am the one with the accent)

@Eva,
I like for people to have accents, then I don't feel so alone with mine Smile

How about brunch, ladies?

@CalamityJane,
I love brunch foods. I can eat them any time of the day.

Pasta salad sounds good tonight, for example.

@Eva,
When it's hot outside, we like to eat something like this...

@CalamityJane,
I assume the second dish is hummus...? (one of our faves)

What is in the first dish besides cheese, onions, tomatoes & lettuce? Is that ham? No....

@Eva,
No hummus and no ham. It's a special sausage

The spread we call "Obatzda" (it's Bavarian slang) and is made out of
ripe camembert, onions, some cottage cheese, butter, paprika, salt and pepper and chives for garnish - it's so so good!

@CalamityJane,
Is that what you used in your salad?

@cicerone imposter,
Yes, sometimes you eat the salad without cheese and add some onions and then it looks like this - all of this is typical beer garden food, by the way.

@CalamityJane,
Well, it looks delicious!

How could that cheese spread NOT be delicious with those ingredients?! My mom used to love camembert, and she gave it to us in small portions when we were small, as a grown-up luxury. Since it was a special treat, of course, we loved it. Looking back, I'm not totally sure whether that was a smart way to make children learn to like an unfamiliar food, or just her way of keeping most of it for herself! Laughing

@CalamityJane,
I've always loved all different kinds of sausages, and onion is one of my favorite veggie.

@cicerone imposter,
Don't you need a little sake to go with that, C.I.?

I just went out back to the garden and picked a half a dozen Big Boy Tomatoes.
Put some beer in the fridge whilst I slowly fry up some of this smoked bacon and take enough slices off of this fat loaf of yeasty bread to make everybody a BLT they have to hold with both hands to eat.
