The bad news is there's no hardwood under the linoleum
Oh well.

The Bosch will do small loads on the top rack and it's supposed to be really quiet. In fact I was at someone's house last week that had one running, I was sitting right next to it and could barely hear it.
I don't have a Bosch dishwasher yet, but as soon as my old one
brakes, I'll buy a Bosch. There are the best on the market and ultra
quiet on top of it. Good choice Swimpy
I'm the one with a Bosch. I like it about as much as you can like a dishwasher.
We got the less expensive version ($700-750 I think) -- it does not have the delayed wash cycle.
Sorry about the lack of hardwood -- I saw some fantastic floor products last week -- check out
www.amtico.com.
Oh my god! There is dust everywhere. These guys have really gone to town. The cabinets are gone. The wallboard is off and now they are pulling up the floor. I tell you, these Iowa farm boys know how to work.
Thanks for the flooring site, Piffka. They have some really cool stuff.
I forgot to take the camera home so no pictures from day one. I'll get some tonight and post them tomorrow night. It's very weird walking into my kitchen now. It feels like it's totally foreign. When they left last night they had removed all the cabinets, the soffits and stripped the wallboard off three walls. Today they planned to get the ceiling and the floor stripped. Tomorrow the electrician comes to rewire and install the new recessed ceiling lights. I can't believe how fast it's going. So far I'm very impressed with the workers.
I don't want to bore you with too many photos. This one pretty much says it all. This is what the room looked like yesterday.
Today the lights are in. The wiring and insulation is done and the dry wall is going up. The radiant heating is installed. Although the mess is making me a little crazy, I'm amazed at how fast things are going. Next week the drywall will be finished, taped and mudded. The paint goes on and then the floor goes in.
These pics are from Thursday (Day 4)
As of the end of the day today (Day 5), all of the dry wall is up. It looks like a room now instead of a bombed out building. I've gotton most of the white dust off of everything. I have to decide on a paint color this weekend. I know the general color I want but there are so many shades of sage green. I'm just going to have to throw a dart at the color chart.
I have a question for you. Do you have white ceilings or painted? And why?
Coming along Swimpy, your workers are fast.
My ceiling is white, and I like it that way. My other walls
are orange though.....
I like the plank sub flooring - kind of old there maybe??
what do the measure? that will tell you for sure.
Orange? Oh my, you are brave, CJ. I'd love to see pictures.
husker, the planks are as wide as my hand is long, maybe 5". They aren't in very good shape and there's about a 1/4" gap between each one. You can see straight through to the basement. How are you feeling, btw?
My living room is orange too Swimpy - I love color!
Have you decided already what kind of floor you want
Swimpy?
feeling very good today alot of extra sleep

Most of our ceilings are white, but I'm in the midst of painting a sky on my bathroom ceiling.
Why? Because it is fun & I wanted to. The room is dark & I'm hoping to bring sky inside. Also, I have a lot of white tile surrounding the bathtub so adding color is good.
I'm putting in a wood floor, CJ. Red oak.
Husker, you need your sllep. You sound a lot better.
Piffka, the reason I asked is that when I paint a room, I always paint the ceiling the same color as the walls. The painter always paints ceilings white. I guess I'm going to try the white, but I'm going to see if he will do an antique white instead of white-white.
The sage green I picked for the kitchen walls is fairly deep, but I'm cnsidering going even darker for the living room. You can see one room from the other so I want to coordinate. I really like the deep sage. It's got a lot of gray in it. The living room furniture is light gray/taupe, so I think it's going to be yummy.
If I happen to pass through town, swimpy, do you want me to stop in and check out the project?
Or should I just keep on driving?
Keep on moving, Gus. There's nothing to see here.
Almost all the white dust is up?
Spackling dust is treacherous, insideous stuff. Futhermore, it multiplies.
I admire your courage and optimism.
And I like your color choices Swimpy. Sage green and red Oak
should look beautiful together.
I would leave the ceiling white though.
Noddy, There is still a thin coating on everything. I'm going to wait until the drywallers get through taping and mudding and sanding before I get serious about eliminating the dust. You're right about it multiplying.
CJ, I think I will leave the ceiling white. I don't want a stark white though.
