Are You Watching Any Of The Inauguration?

This is the first inaugural celebration in which I have absolutely no desire to witness, because what is there to celebrate? The breakdown and corporate takeover of American democracy? The shortsighted and poorly executed war against "terrorism?" The illegal invasion of a sovereign country? The demonization of liberals, France, homosexuals, Sponge-Bob, and neoconservative mass media spewing forth the vitriolic hatred aimed squarely at the progressive left? The billion dollar payoff in tax cuts to once again increase the gap between the haves and the have-nots?

IMO, there is nothing to celebrate here other than America's self-righteous place in the annals of great emperial societies.

History has shown much too often that these empires inevitably fall due to their own blind hubris, arrogance, and global expansionism.

My wife had it on in the other room. I asked her why since I know she likes Bush even less than I do. Her answer, I like to see what people are wearing and Clinton looked great. I am not sure she even noticed Bush??

Truth be told, this is the first one I've ever seen any part of. Not sure why, lack of interest in pomp and ceremony, I guess.

That, was very Presidential. Oh, how I wish I could believe he could actually accomplish his stated goals. His rhetoric sounds more and more like my own with every speech!

Kicky, CSPAN will probably re-run the speech all night long.

Who was it that said "It's all over but the whining."?

Was that another Yogi Berra quote?

Wasn't it fascism that demonized the critics of government, inevitably leading to murderous revenge by those who never could think for themselves?

BPB
I wanted to spend today doing something that would really benefit my little plot of land in my country. I'm raking up leaves that have blown into my front yard from up and down the street. That seems more productive than watching the strutting village idiot spew platitudes.

STOP EVERYTHING. I am dying to hear your answer.

Do you really think "sovereign" is an apt adjective for a country ruled by a gang of thugs who would torture and perhaps murder any citizen who dared to an express an opinion other than agreement?

Sovereign:

1: possessed of supreme power <a sovereign ruler>
2: enjoying autonomy <sovereign states>

Being ruled by thugs has nothing to do with sovereignty.

Sort of like you do with your usual whinning retorts, except, so far, you haven't been strung up---but the four years aren't over yet.
