Dookie when I am elected...we'll just cook a few pigs, have a few rock bands...and put a five dollar cover on the door to defray expenses + Bi-Polar Bear t-shirts, baby dolls, thongs....and do a dvd to sell and maybe a piercing and spanking booth...make it affordable to everyone...I'm sorry though..no country music or karaoke.....

Maybe if Bush's inauguration celebration was paid for with taxpayer money you would have a point.

$40m for the party = private donations

$72m for security and grandstands = taxpayer's dollars

being a teflon president = priceless

I'm impressed Dook... you recognized the doublewide. However, if you think the fools that lock there doors will cancel out the extra money coming to town, you really are clueless, though. The city will bitch and moan every step of the way, trying to grab extra dollars from the public treasury, but don't you believe for one minute that they'd prefer it happen elsewhere.

Where do you suppose that 40 million is going? Into Bush's pocket?

It's going to the people working the inaugeration. The citizens of Washington D.C.

[By the way... how many of you raised a similar stink at the $165,000,000 plus "security" associated with unveiling the world's largest doublewide?

The entire facility -- library, museum, foundation headquarters and school -- was constructed at a cost of $165 million in privately raised contributions from more than 10,000 donors, its Web site said.

Seems like a poor comparison.

Ya gotta leave in the Karoake. Where else is John Asscroft gonna get his 15 minutes?

By "they," you mean?

I remember quite a few residents in Boston who left town rather than deal with the logistical nightmare of the Democratic National Convention. And of COURSE they wouldn't want it anywhere else; it's the Nation's Capitol.

Dooks, why not get off the computer and go downtown to the protest. Bust some windows. Maybe we'll all see you on the news tonight. Make sure to give us the A2K salute. Wink

Why do you say that? Do you think the private donors covered the security? Or, do you think that identical to the inauguration celebration; private funds pay for the celebration and the public picks up the security tab for security... like they do every other day of every President's life?

I'll be joining the protestors right here in the City. But we're not into busting windows. It's more about getting our voices heard in an evergrowing society of paranoid, delusional neconservative minions who blindly follow the Bush Administration.

Notice how I just quoted one.

I have often compared Chirac to Saddam as well. Glad to see I am not the only that does that.

Because the 165,000,000 dollars wasn't for the ceremony. I looked but couldn't find how much the ceremony cost, but I know for a fact that it didn't take three days.

For the record, I don't really give a **** about this topic.

If you can pick up a San Francisco news feed, make sure and watch for Dookie at the protest. He should be easy to spot (then again, maybe not).

WTF are you smoking?

The vast majority of the money will go to the rich. The profits from the ceremonies, parties, galas, hotels, parties, drinking, entertainment etc. will only serve to line the pockets of those who already have pretty deep pockets.

The people of D.C., 99% of them, will get a big shaft right up the rear end, to the tune of 11 million dollars that they could have been spending on other things, but now go to some stupid security b/c the president needs 11 parties apparently to confirm something which everyone has already agreed is true.

Why do they get to party with our tax dollars? Is this legal?

So we're in agreement that both meetings were perfectly meaningless? Very good.

Freeduck... we've found something we can agree on then too!
