As a consequence of this dearth of ignorance, your average college staff probably DOES have a higher percentage of "liberal" thinkers than found in the general population.

BUT... there ARE some colleges which are dominated by "conservative" elements.
(They're not particularly GOOD colleges, but, hey, "if life gives you lemons...")

Well Bipolar, we at Annapolis generally did very well with the girls from St John's and Goucher with long straight hair, wistfull looks and who spoke knowingly of Kafka and Proust.

Your second paragraphy is the relevant one. There aren't many managers I would trust with my kid's education nor with a sympathetic bedside manner when grammy is dying.

But, I'll bet you would trust me.

I remember the middies when I lived in Annapolis...now there was a conservative college!

U of Virginia was a virtual heathen pit in comparison

Not really. More free spitited and libertarian than you may think. They didn't care much what we thought - only what we did. Individuality is encouraged more in the Navy than in the other services.

St John's was so close, and I think we were a refreshing change of pace for some. Lots of delightful memories.

I wonder if they're still banning Ayn Rand's novels at St. John's.

Disclaimer: This is NOT a political statement on Ayn Rand. This is NOT a political statement on St. John's. This is NOT any kind of statement other than wondering if her novel's are still on the "no-no" list there.

That didn't surprise me so much. I have lots of friends from Texas A & M, though, and was surprised to see it as #1.
