This isn't really "calligraphy", just rather elaborate handwriting. The image already shows the handwritten text in print, underneath, between quotation marks.

In addition, is written

"Merry Christmas"
Christmas 1977
Roy Moore B.A.
12-22-77
Olde Hickory House

@centrox,
Not even elaborate IMO.
It's just that the picture is so big.

Definately not calligraphy.

Don't know what is meant by "type them out"

No, just swirly. When I sent cards to sweet, beautiful girls in 1977, I did not add any letters after my name, even though I was entitled to. And if I did there wouldn't have been any periods.

Thank you. There is "Love" after 1977.

The meaning of the sentence may also have contributed to the difficulty of read it:

There should have been a comma behind "sweeter":
To a sweeter, more beautiful girl I could not say "Merry Christmas."

The question is: Why you could not say "Merry Christmas" to a sweeter, more beautiful girl? Does it hint that Moore was dirty minded, that he had evil thought (intended to rape the girl so he felt too hypocritical to say "Merry Christmas" to her)?

Right click your mouse and in the pop up Menu choose Open the Picture on A New Tab/Page and you will see the whole picture there, Dale.

Jesus oristar.

Not everyone scrutinizes ever single comma, dash or period they casually write.

That’s just what this is, a casual holiday greeting. Nothing rapey or pervey about the it. There’s no underlying meaning.

The girl probably went home and showed her mother and father what her favorite teacher wrote, and they said “oh how nice”

@chai2,
I did the calligraphy for our wedding invitations. Not a big deal, it was a small wedding.

Okay. Why could not he say "Merry Christmas" to a more beautiful girl?

It is a formal, polite figure of speech, a compliment. He could not (i.e it was impossible to) say anything to a sweeter or more beautiful girl because such a girl could not exist. He is gallantly implying that her sweetness and beauty are the maximum possible in a woman. Your ideas about a dirty mind, rape, etc, are completely wrong.

@centrox,
Well, thank you.

Does it simply show that Moore was attracted to sweeter girls?

It shows he was polite and friendly. Nothing more. Absolutely nothing more. For all we know, he may have said that to all the girls.

Because he didn't.

More than likely it was just something he scribbled out on her program or yearbook or whatever that piece of paper is.

He didn't stand there giving deep thought as to how to compose it.

It's not fancy writing, it's just him dashing off a Merry Christmas note.

You are putting way too much thought into this.

I've written things like "Happy Birthday to a great guy."

I'd hate to think someone was scrutinizing that phrase to the nth degree, wonder what I meant about thinking he was a great guy, does that mean I find him sexy, do I want to sleep with him, etc.

This is about the Roy Moore sexual harassment issue. One of his accusers has presented this yearbook signature from 1977 as evidence.

Yeah Punkey. That is the point.

If the note is so clean, why would the accusers have presented it? Do they play the role of Chicken Little?
