Stradee, Great photos, I am reminded of my flying in Alaska - there were many times I observed wolf packs and occasionally one or two together.

About seven yrs ago while first beginning to build our home here in NE Texas, I saw a wolf in what is now our back yard. It came through two times then I never saw it again. I named it "Amadeus".

There are also Coyotes here. The coyotes are much larger than the wolf - about the size of a large German Shepard.

The wolves have been here for ages. When I was about 12 or 13 I was hunting squirrel with my neighbor - we heard a lot of brush rattling and then saw our dog running towards us. The dog came and stopped behind our legs - at the same time a huge wolf came trotting towards us stopping suddenly when he saw us. We stared at each other for a long time then the wolf turned and ran away.

There are plenty of coyotes here also, but not many wolves live in the lower 48 states. Now that reintroduction plagued by the current administration's relaxing the Endangered Species Act, and the slaughter of Alaska's wolves, we many never again see or hear the magnificent animals.

I mentioned Eagle Lake where years ago there was a healthy wolf population - the singing of the animals amazing. Not many survive, if at all - even though Eagle Lake and the surrounding area remote.

Wolves are very shy and generally avoid humans. You were very fortunate to have seen one. The coyotes are not shy. Those bad boys begin their hunting from the meadow not far from the house, and yip and holler on the road. Sounds eerie as heck.

Talk about eerie, here's a story a woman visiting the shelter related. The woman and her cat were standing on the house deck - just communing with nature during a summers morning. A Puma evidently was crouched underneath the patio decking, and with one swoop, grabbed the womans companion animal! Of course she was devastated, who wouldn't be witnessing such a thing! Long story short, after our conversation, she and her family adopted a Rottwieller. Smart
choice.

Couldn't get on yesterday with the weirdness.

WOULD you believe that it is snowing. The town crew came with their equipment yesterday and gave up at the six foot drifts on the driveway.

One of my P'Town angels came this noon and took me shopping - now, let it snow...WHAT am I saying?

ebeth - by all means, post the snow photos.- except that now there is close to a foot more on top of those drifts.

And where is Aa?
