Those of you who enjoy surrealism as much as I do may want to look at a somewhat frightening ruling by a Texas appeals court the other day. It seems that 13-year-olds and younger are now free to commit sexual assaults in Texas without punishment. They know not what they do.

If you’re in Texas or have to travel there, I strongly recommend avoiding anyone who looks young. The appeals court says because state legislators decided that kids can’t legally consent to sex, they also can’t consent to sex they force on someone else.

I’m guessing Texas legislators might have been surprised by this interpretation.

The result was that a case against a 13-year-old who molested a 12-year-old was dismissed with prejudice. There was a crime but no criminal.

Note to Texas prosecutors: Just charge kids with assault. They can probably consent to that.

For the record I think the Outrage Porn of The Day (TM) is related to Romeo and Juliet laws where kids that are the same age don't get criminal records from sexual experimentation.

It is an interesting topic. I do believe that punishing kids for consensual activity with their peers is stupid.

Was it consensual? The blog referenced by the cited blog doesn't give the details, and the case it cites only details its ruling based on a technicality.

If you google for the recent case of 13 year olds in the courts (I only found one) in Texas... it was consensual.

It is outrage porn InfraBlue. Of course the blog doesn't give the details the goal is to titillate self-righteous liberals. Facts just get in the way.

You may be right, how dare men and women who experienced sexual abuse or rape as children complain about something some people think is just a right of passage. I'm so proud of you for being so strong despite whatever the hell you hint may have happened to you.

People filled with rage and inadequacy delight in pulling down online threads as a way to make their miserable selves have power, whereas in real life they haven't an iota.
