@Cycloptichorn,
If nobody cares, then the past 10 pages of immature nasty personal attacks don't make any sense.

The point is shutting down any opinion idea or experience that doesnt fit the ideological narrative... and it keeps getting nastier. You can't keep escalating and then say nobody cares.

If you really don't care. Then stop.

@maxdancona,
That's not bad advice at all, and in fact I and others have 'stopped.'

Stopped taking you and what you write seriously, that is. Stopped expecting anything other than attention-seeking drama from you.

If what you mean is 'stop calling me out for constantly acting like a narcissistic asshole,' the answer to that is a solid no, thanks.

@Cycloptichorn,
And yet you keep responding. Whether that makes you a narcissistic asshole is not for me to say.

I am going to post my opinions here whether or not you and "the others" approve. Generally I do so without the nasty atracks that this thread has become.

You, or anyone else in your group are free to ignore me, except apparently you can't. Which is why we are still having this silly argument.

@Cycloptichorn,
You know, I noticed several posts on this thread yesterday that were later removed. Presumably because they were literally nothing but name-calling. Or accusations that Max - who's talked about being a sexual abuse victim - must just be a sexual abuser himself.

None of those posts were by Max.

Maybe y'all should take a look at yourselves before going on for too long about who "trashed" whose thread, and who's being a "total jerk".

And for chrissakes, if there's a user whose posts you really can't stand reading without responding with endless invective, use the ******* Ignore button. To borrow your phrase, nobody cares about your ******* drama. This thread seemed to have returned to a substantive discussion of the subject at hand late yesterday, with the posts by Olivier, myself and Max, and then, bam: Set and especially you came back in to turn it back into an insult-fest that's all about Max and how bad he is, instead of the actual ******* topic, which God knows is important enough.

@nimh,
That's a fair enough response, though thanks to the poster in question this thread has about 8 extra pages that were thrown totally off-topic by ego-driven accusations of bias and 'politics,' whatever that means. I have little patience for that crap and have always called 'em like I see them.

I leave it up to the reader to judge whether or not it's appropriate for me to do so, but the voting system we have in place doesn't seem to indicate widespread disagreement with my position. Quite the opposite.

When a person is driven to trash a thread, no matter what else gets posted, they deserve whatever they get called.

@Cycloptichorn,
The thumb system is routinely used to gang up on unpopular members. I've been a frequent victim of it and know better than pay attention to what the crowd yells.

Max may be every single thing you say he is, but he doesn't have the power to trash a thread. Only the collective hysteria of a gang of posters could possibly do that. You guys need to chill out a bit and stop behaving as if you were entitled to a safe, Max-free space. You're giving him far too much importance.

Max certainly trashed my threads about women by his hysteria and his fallacious accusations. People simply did not come back to the threads. Now I suppose we'll get whining about people's free speech rights being denied. Free speech does not mean that anyone has to listen (or read one's posts), nor that anyone has to take one seriously.

@Setanta,
Cry babies need to grow a skin, discover the iggy button, and get on with their lives.

@Olivier5,
Here is exactly why I periodically have to quit this site. The eternal trashing of threads. Jesus Christ.

@edgarblythe,
The solution to that is not to start a huge brouhaha about one single poster who happens to ruin your hairdo, but to stick to the subject matter and ignore the disruptions.

@Olivier5,
It only goes so far though. It's not so much those of us who ignore attention seekers or those who challenge them, but genuine victims who will be put off sharing their experiences because of the virulent misogyny from attention seekers.

And calling victims cry babies makes you part of the problem.

@izzythepush,
To be clear, I called those whinning to no end about Max "cry babies". As far as I know, they are not victims of sexual abuse. Correct me if I'm wrong.

By the way, Mr. Name-calling, objecting that someone trashes threads is just descriptive, it's not whining. This thread is effectively trashed because, as Izzy points out, people who have been victimized are very unlikely to post here if they have reason to believe they will be sneered at, attacked or otherwise belittled if they do. Of course, as you said at the site "Fluther," you just come on line because you like to argue.

@Olivier5,
Setanta complained that victims would be put off this thread, and your response was cry babies. Maybe you didn't mean the victims of abuse, but it could reasonably be assumed that you did.

In any event you give the impression that an attention seekers' right to trash a thread is more important than giving victims a safe space to share their experiences.

Using a phrase like cry baby is completely inappropriate in a thread like this anyway, and I thought you would understand that. It's hardly rocket science.

Anthony Rapp credits Me Too in coming forward about Kevin Spacey.

Quote:
“I came forward with my story, standing on the shoulders of the many courageous women and men who have been speaking out, to shine a light and hopefully make a difference, as they have done for me,” the actor said in a statement to PEOPLE. “Everything I wanted to say about my experience is in that article, and I have no further comment about it at this time.”
