The 4th one is the most difficult, you'd be wrong to think it was an actress however

You know what I love about this thread? Since we're all sitting at computors, and still getting slowed, or stomped, from time to time, obviously we are devoted to this honor system. So let's all take a bow, and give ourselves, a collective pat on the back. Cool

What was the last Best Picture to filmed ENTIRELY in black & white (i.e. not Schindler's List)?

Which Best Picture oscar winner does not have opening credits or title?

To answer an earlier query, Kubrick never received an award from the Academy. His only nomination was for Full Metal Jacket.

I didn't think that sounded right mac, he did have some other nominations, 2001, Strangelove, etc., but in my Oscar book I noticed that he did win an Oscar after all - but it was for Visual Effects, for 2001 in 1968. Learn something new every day.

Larry - yes, of course you're right - my brain failed me on that one. I checked and his last nomination was for Full Metal Jacket. And you're also correct about his winning Special Visual Effects for 2001.

New question: Who was the first fictional character nominated for a competitive Academy Award?

I was unaware he won any - I just happened to glance at the awards from 1968 and saw his name there.

A fictional character nominee for a competitive award. M-i-c-k-e-y?

I am not sure about this answer but in 1932 Walt Disney won an Honary Oscar for the creation of Mickey Mouse.

When were the Supporting Actor and Actress categories added to the Academy Awards?

There were others before but they used pseudonyms so don't count

The Apartment is correct as the last best picture winner filmed entirely in b&w.

Still looking for which best picture winner doesn't have opening credits or title? Hint: 1950's.

What's the story behind Donald Kaufman?

Charlie Kaufman wrote the screenplay for Adaptation and gave credit to his fictional twin, Donald. (Geez, I hope that guy's in therapy!)

I have no idea about the 50s best picture winner without opening credits, but I'll guess a few: Marty? Ben Hur? On the Waterfront?
