...Yes, this is a blatant rip-off of the musical trivia game, but that's what good ideas are for. Plus, I'm a blatant namedropper. Lightwizard is a co-conspiritor So here goes; you know the drill, answer the question, then ask your own.
...What two movies in back-to-back years, won twenty Oscars between them?
One more thing; since we're on the information network, let's do this on the honor system, and at least give a valiant try to using old fashioned brain power.
I only put three hosts in the poll, because these three guys seemed to be separated from the rest of the field in number of appearances and association with the Oscars. Feel free to speak on someone else, if they are your preference. It was a hard choice for me but I love the dry wit, of Johnnie.
Hmmm. How about Ben-Hur (1959) and Gigi (1958)?
Booman, I'm going to delete the duplicate topic.
Jespah,
...What duplicate topic?
It's gone now (the duplicate topic - I think you may have double-clicked on Submit when you were creating this topic, so it showed up twice).
Who was nominated for 34 Oscars and won 8, and in what category?
Bonus, for what film was his/her last win?
Well, at least let us know what films there were even if they were two years apart!
1959 - Ben-Hur
1961 - West Side Story
Ben-Hur (11) and Gigi (9) won 20 in back to back years (two years after, West Side Story won 10). But English Patient (9) and Titanic (11) won 20 also, in 1996/1997.
LarryBS, I'm guessing Edith Head for Costume Design, but I have no idea what her last win was.
Right, her last win was for The Sting. Not sure if she passed on soon after or retired..
Edith Head's last film credit was Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid in 1982. She died in October of 1981. (I just checked it on IMDb.)
Okay, next question:
Name four of the six actresses who have been nominated for both Best Leading Actress and Best Supporting Actress the same year.
Okay, I'm back and I apologize for trusting my addled brain. Not only did I think , "Bridge Over The River Kwai" was the year before "Ben-Hur", but I thought it had won nine Oscars.

Equus, ol' buddy, ol' pal, hee-hee.. of course you were right.

,(note the sh*t eating grin) Now excuse me while I go crawl in a hole.
I knew Ben-Hur won a lot, and I didn't think the Apartment won very many, so I guessed it must have been Gigi.
What award category was discontinued after the very first Academy Award presentations? (hint: there was a good reason)
Macsm11: Uh...I'll guess Meryl Streep, Ingrid Bergman, Geraldine Page, Maggie Smith???
Equus,
...You went easy on me.

...I'm doing so badly anyway what can I lose by making a wild, wild guess. Something to do with silent movies, like the piano, or artwork?
BTW...How many did "Bridge Over The River Kwai" win? I'll bet a fat man, it was seven, if not nine.
