@Themaster154,
Lots of us have thoughts that we never act on - even dark ones. That's okay; it's just your imagination. One way you can channel that is by writing. Even if you don't think you're that good, writing can be a good way to get that stuff out. If you don't want it to be found, you can always erase any electronic documents or discard, shred, or burn any paper ones.

If it is really bothering you, you can talk to your mother again, but this time in the context of asking to see your doctor and maybe getting a referral to a therapist. It doesn't mean you're violent, crazy, stupid, autistic, or anything else! It just means you would like to talk to someone about it, someone who's a professional. That's all.

It's gonna be okay.

Are you hanging around people like this, watching porn or lots of TV or reading material that kicks off these thoughts? They just can't pop up without a trigger.

Are you a mental health expert Punkey? Obviously not, because, if you were,then you'd know the various things go on in the brain which have no actual trigger. So, yes, they can indeed and do, 'pop up'.

To the OP, heed the sound words of jespah, she is on target.

@Themaster154,
I'm an author. You should see my search history, and all the stuff I've watched.

These are just thoughts.

So like I said, maybe it's time you talked to your mother again. We should have control over what our thoughts do to us, and understand when not to follow through. If you are having trouble with that (and it's okay if you are), then talking to a therapist is a really good idea.

@Themaster154,
Of course some of it's bad. Given that I've written about what happens when people are thrown out of an airlock in deep space without a pressure suit, yeah, I've read some bad stuff.

And of course it's thoughts. None of that is real.

If you are unsure of the difference between perception and reality, then you really do need to talk to a professional.

@Themaster154,
You'll be fine - but I am serious - don't blow this part off, please -- if it is bothering you this much, then talk to a professional. In person.

I am neither a professional therapist nor am I in person with you.

@Themaster154,
Everybody has intrusive thoughts, and sometimes they can be quite upsetting, but most of us don't act on them and get on with our lives.

Now I don't want to be accused of putting words in Jespah's mouth, but I think she's saying that if you can't just compartmentalise those thoughts and fear you may act on them or that you have trouble distinguishing thoughts from actions then you really need to talk to a mental health professional.

Talking to a professional face to face is the part you don't want to blow off.

Btw, I feel a bit awkward with this terminology, where I come from blowing off is a colloquial term for farting.

@izzythepush,
Thank you - that's 100% it and I had no idea that expression had such a different meaning.

And once again to the OP as I can tell you really don't want to hear this - if you cannot keep your thoughts from becoming actions, then see a mental health professional. The world will not end and your life will improve as you'll have a lot less of this anxiety.

If you think thought will turn into action, then get some help. Full stop.

@Themaster154,
How would I know? I don't know you. I don't know how much of an effect they're having on you, but it seems like they're distressing you more than most people. Also you seem to have problems distinguishing between thoughts and reality. If that's true you should seek professional help. Consider how much more distressed you'd be if you did act on these impulses.

@jespah,
As in the Pete and Dud sketch about a sign missing some letters.
" His Rs tends to blow off during the winter months."

@Themaster154,
Talk to a professional, don't be worried about it, you've not done anything wrong. I'm just some bloke on the internet, I'm not medically qualified. There are websites on dealing with intrusive thoughts, but you need to ask your doctor for a referral.

Google "dealing with intrusive thoughts" but make an appointment.
