IT'S BACK! Time again to watch the tropical storms and hurricanes in the Atlantic (and maybe the Pacific).
@realjohnboy,
The Atlantic looks pretty empty right now.
The Gulf has a named storm coming ashore.
@edgarblythe,
Cindy is a tropical that made landfall near the LA/TX line. Not much wind but lots of rain.
@realjohnboy,
We are on the dry side, but they keep telling us rain will hit here tonight. Don't know whether to believe it, but will keep the windows shut.
We live on the northwest side of Houston.The east side had significant downpours. We got one good healthy rain. There is still about a 60% chance for more.
TS Emily approaching. Should be overhead here around 2am.
Already got some light flooding going on.
Storm activity getting active again. Houston could get some tropical weather by the week end.
Now they predict the storm could be a hurricane before it gets here. I better go back and get more non perishables.
Last hurricane here was Ike. It left me with no electric and running water for several weeks. My neighbor lost three or four tall trees. It was a number of days before we could drive from here to town. Most irritating thing, to me, the water company had a generator that could have kept us supplied with water, but they didn't use it until a couple of days before power was restored.
@edgarblythe,
Probably waiting for an emergency.
@roger,
After that they installed a permanent generator, and raised our bill to pay for it.
Bad news for Corpus Christi. They now say the eye may go there. But it will get trapped between high pressure areas and stall over us all.
@edgarblythe,
What appears to me to be the most ominous thing about Harvey is the projected rainfall totals. Can you show that NHC map, Edgar? I forgot how to do that.
@realjohnboy,
Okay.
They say the storm will stall, caught between two high pressure systems.
