@Lera-B,
All of these suggests re "motivation" and "think of it as..." make no sense.
Apparantly I'm the only night owl on this thread. I might be getting thumbed down, but at least I'm speaking the truth of people who have embraced their individual rhythm and use it towards living life in a way that remains productive, even more productive than when being "motivated" (read forced) to live how most of the world dictates they should.
Food or coffee as a motivation? Seriously? For a night owl, coffee isn't a motivation as much as a means to be able to start cursing the day. Food? Let me wake you up out of a dead sleep at 1 am and put a plate of bacon and eggs in front of you, and let us know how you feel about that.
Kids? Again, it's a reason to force yourself to do something, but I wouldn't call that motivation, as there's no pleasure involved. Thank God I dodged that bullet.
I resent the last comment that implies one must be "up and at 'em" because you're running out of time, may have no tomorrow, etc. The time you want to be awake has nothing to do with how much you get done. You just get it done at a different time.
Yes, I understand the work world mostly functions around this 8 to 5 cycle, and unless you can follow a career path that you can adjust this time, night owls must work around that. I personally don't know, and don't believe there's much chance of someone whose natural cycle is going to sleep between 1 and 3 or 4am, and naturally waking up between 9 am and let's say noon is ever going to truly find this "wow, this is so great", any more than a lark would really be happy being "motivated"
to stay up until 2am, and then movitvated again to stay in bed until 9 or 10am
Night owls aren't looking to party any more than any other group. It seems a lot of day people can't imagine others doing anything but whooping it up when they are themselves sleeping.
Sunrise? I'll take the moon in its many phases, high and brilliant, or seen through the branches of a tree, clouds drifting over it in a mysterious way. I'd prefer to drive out to where it's darker, so on a moonless night I can see the most stars, marveling how this planet is a part of it all.
During the day, none of this can be seen, and we can be fooled into thinking we are all there is, encapsulated in this blue or gray sky.
At night, the curtains are open, and we get to see how it really is.
My life, and everyone else's is on a timer. I'm not going to live mine according to someone elses timer, or thinking that many of the nonsense things we have convinced ourself we need to get done are that important.
