I was really surprised by the 1st degree Lacy and 2nd degree Connor verdict. If he intended to kill Lacy, knowing she was pregnant... That makes no sense to me.

I was surprised by the verdict split too. I guess the reasoning would be that he wasn't thinking about the baby, his intention was only to kill Laci.

I am surprised the jury didn't return second degree murder on both charges. How do they know he intended to kill Laci since they don't actually know what happened or what led to her death.

Agreed, firefly. But to me, the intent had to include Connor. He's not stupid. He didn't try to save the baby before or after.

Before the verdict I just knew they were going to come back with not guilty. I wasn't convinced he did it from the news I ws getting. But, then, I didn't follow it religiously on court tv.

From my reading of the case, I believe he was guilty. I was not at all sure what the verdict would be, however.

Good that he is convicted.

But, there is another high-profile case in the U.S ; also here will Justitia decide right:

Quote:

Coral Watts in a Pontiac court Friday

Coral Eugene Watts is an admitted serial killer that some describe as worse than Jeffery Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy.

Watts admitted to killing 13 women, but he worked out a plea deal in Texas and agreed to a burglary charge.

Now with time off for good behavior, he could be released nearly 40 years early. For the first time, he's being tried for murder in an Oakland County courtroom.

Joel Doepker had more.

Watts stands trial for murdering a Ferndale woman back in 1979 and dumping her body in an alley. Hundreds of his victims' family members are closely watching, hoping a Pontiac jury finds him guilty to avoid others feeling their pain.

Watts wouldn't have gone on trial for the murder of Helen Dutcher except for a loophole in Texas law that would've released him from prison in 2006.

In order to keep the self-described serial killer behind bars, Oakland County prosecutors found a key eyewitness -- Joseph Foy -- who says he saw Watts stab Dutcher to death in the alley behind his home in December of 1979.

Foy's wife testified Friday morning about the TV show she and her husband were watching earlier this year about the Watts killings. Her husband instantly recognized Watts and called prosecutors.

"That's the guy I saw kill the girl in the alley in Ferndale," said Laura Foy.

Family members of victims traveled across the country to Pontiac for the trial. In the courtroom Friday were the sisters of Bay City native Suzie Wolf. She was stabbed to death by Watts in Houston in 1981.

Friday was the first time two of her sisters had seen Watts face to face.

"I was very anxious," said Barb Wolf-LeRoux. "I had this knot in my stomach. I'm not sure how I was feeling. In some ways this is the man that last saw my sister alive and he's responsible for her death."

If convicted of the Dutcher murder, Watts faces life in a Michigan prison.

I am SO GLAD they found him guilty. I knew that bastard did it when it was reported that he was trying to sell her car before they had even found her body. They should have locked his ass up right then instead of wasting taxpayers money with a trial but, this will do.

I hope he dosen't get the death penalty, putting him out of his misery isn't harsh enough.
Think about this, he's a selfish murderous womanizer, that is somewhat attractive. What could be more fitting than to lock him up in a penitentiary until the day he dies with the most hardened male criminals.
What do you suppose is going to happen to pretty boy in jail?
Perhaps some huge, tattoo riddled man named "skull" will show him exactly what it's like to be a girl. This way he can learn compassion for the oposite sex, that he obviously lacks.

And we can rest assured knowing, that when he dies, if there is a hell, he won't have to stand in line!

My wish for Scott Peterson-
May he learn to serve and cherish his new boyfriends as Laci had innocently done for him.

Most death penalty cases cost a few hundred thousand per person.
That kind of money can certainly be better spent.

How much does it cost to keep him incarcerated for the rest of his life? He's a young man.

I think I've seen pretty definitive studies that show with the appeals process, legal fees and all, execution costs more.

I agree with you, snood. and the death penalty erases any opportunity of trying to understand the mind of such people, or examining further evidence which may come to light.

This is one of the most beneficial reasons for not imposing the death penalty. It will help society in the future.

And that death is just way too easy for a monster.

I too hope some biker with 18 prison tats and a police record 45 offenses long takes little Scott "under his wing". Shocked Very Happy
