ray: I need the total number of points in the Dallas-Washington game. Thanks. And your are going to do research before making your picks? What an interesting concept. I'll have to consider that notion.

The first week of this mercifully comes to an end with another swath of red ink crossing the page. Only johnboy and gus picked Atlanta.
Did I ever tell you that when I went to gus' shack in the swamp to nag him into playing, we sat on what pass for chairs (milk crates stolen from the 7-11) drinking warm Pabst Blue Ribbon beers. He has a clever porch design that slopes towards the swamp water below, so an empty beer can, of which there were many, rolls right off. Unfortunately the slope can be disorienting for the rare visitor. The gators wait below the porch.

So the first week ends and, unless I have screwed up, here are the scores:
...At 9-7: region and panzade
...At 8-8: rjb, el-diablo and gus
...At 7-9: dragon, jpinmilw and george
...At 5-11: ray, fbeazer and cowdoc

One suggestion was made that we keep a running cumulative total of correct picks. Under this design, since this was week 1, each of us has anywhere from nine to five points. My concern was that I don't want to discourage new players who may be interested in joining later but will feel left out if too much emphasis is put on that. But we will discreetly do that.

I am also going to keep a running total of "Wins Minus Losses." By this reckoning, region and pan are at +2, gus, for example is at 0, etc, and a few players are at -6.

Thanks for playing. May Week 2 be more successful for us all.

region, meet gus. Gus, this is region from Boston. (johnboy runs away, as fast as his skinny legs can get him away).

yeah, but I'll be busy so the research thing might have to go...

As for the Dallas washington game I think the total points would be 29

John boy. What I had in mind was that the winner of each week would be recorded and at the end of the playoffs the player with the most wins would be crowned. No need to keep a lot of stats.
In this case Reeg gets a point for winning week one since he was closest with the total points.

I was wondering what the restrictions are for editing of picks. Is it allowed as long as it is done before the first game or should it be a no-change deal?

jpinmilw: players can switch horses anytime prior to the kickoff of the first game of the weekend; as often as they like.
Please DON'T change a pick by editing your original post. I am unlikely to see that a change has been made. Instead, submit a new post with the new pick(s) for the game(s) involved. It is absolutely no problem for me to make the change on my scorecard. Who have soured on?
