I am taking a serious beating.

My only consolation now would be for the Lions to destroy the Packers.

I was told this morning that it is a beautiful day. Too nice to sit inside watching football. A day better suited for doing yardwork. But I did sneak inside to see the final scores from the early games and how we fared:
region is at 7-3 and deserves a nod for picking Tanpa Bay
dragon is at 5-5
johnboy is at 6-4
ray is underwater at 4-6
fbeazer is 5-5
jpinmilwaukee is also at 7-3, quietly (rjb edits the post to correct the omission, Sorry)
cowdoc is also at 5-5
el-diablo comes in at 7-3 with congrats for picking Miami
panzade, who actually knows something about this topic, is at 8-2
george seems to be at 5-5
and gus isn't doing as badly as he claims, at 7-3.

Johnboy is dragged away, told to get back to work. (sigh)

I am quite surprised that panzade actually seems to know something about football.

I always had him pegged as as more of a tennis aficionado.

Don't nobody get near me...I'm surly and mean.
What a beating I took. On the good side:

Dolphons were...awesome

Lions were...awesome. Hey O'Bill got a few words?

O'Bill is holding a pistol to his temple as we speak.

But that's no loss. I'm worried about sozobe.

This is by no means official, but it looks like, through the first 14 games (excluding the one about to start and the one on Monday) we have:
region (with the pick of Tampa Bay) and the ever-steady panzade tied at 8-6;
At 7-7 are el-diablo (the lone picker of Miami), george (the only person to choose Dallas) and gus (who is gus);
At 6-8 are dragon. johnboy and jpinmilwaukee;
ray is at 5-9;
And it looks like fbaezer and cowdoc, at 4-10, had a really bad day.

WEEK 1 ... johnboy is already going to have to buy a new red highlighter! My chart has players across the top of a grid and games down the left. A correct pick earns a green highlight; an incorrect pick a red one. There was a lot of red, with the late games (4 pm ET) being particularly brutal on many of us.

Here is where we are through the 15 games ending with Sunday night's:

At 9-6 are region and panzade (region was the lone picker of Tampa Bay)
At 8-7 is el-diablo (who was the only one to pick Miami)
At 7-8 are dragon, johnboy, jpinmilw, george (who had Dallas) and gus
At 5-10 are ray, fbeazer and cowdoc (who can be heard chanting in the background "Wait 'til next week."

(I checked to see how the experts at ESPN did. The best of the four was 9-6 and the worst 6-9).

Tonight, Atlanta is at Philly and region, pan and el-diablo all pick Philly. So region and pan will tie for the first week exluding the tiebreaker: region has 27 total points being scored; pan has 41 as being the total. Johnboy will be asleep long before the game ends, so yall will have to check back tomorrow for the official results for the week.

Panzade suggested adding a few bells and whistles to the game which you will notice tomorrow. He also has a game (with a deadline of, I believe, tomorrow) to look way ahead and predict the Superbowl winner. Please play that. And Johnboy will have the schedule for Week 2 up here shortly.

Thank yall for participating. -rgb

WEEK #2 Schedule.............

Sunday 9/18 at 1 pm ET:
...Pittsburgh @ Houston
...Detroit @ Chicago
...Minnesota @ Cincinnati
...Jacksonville @ Indianapolis
...Baltimore @ Tennessee
...New England @ Carolina
...Buffalo @ Tampa Bay
...San Francisco @ Philadelphia
Sunday 9/18 at 4 pm ET:
...St Louis @ Arizona
...Atlanta @ Seattle
...Miami @ NY Jets
...Cleveland @ Green Bay
...San Diego @ Denver
Sunday 9/18 at 8:30 pm ET:
...Kansas City @ Oakland
Monday 9/19 at 7:30 pm ET:
...NY Giants @ New Orleans
Monday 9/19 at 9:00 pm ET:
...Washington @ Dallas

16 games to pick and yall need to predict the total number of points that will be scored in the Washington vs Dallas game. The deadline is when the first kickoff occurs on Sunday (no slack, anymore).

The NY Giants @ New Orleans game was scheduled as an early game on Sunday but now seems to be a Monday evening game. San Antonio? I wouldn't want to be the Giants. Could be pretty emotional.

New players are more than welcome to join in!
