Nice observation, LionTamer.

I will accept that as a compliment in the highest form.

If you ran for president, I would vote at least three times for you.

Any man that has no cherished team must be looked on with suspicion.
-Panzade quote

So Carolina does in Chicago, sending Sublime to the sidelines in the Super Bowl chase. Still alive are:
Fbaaezer (going with Denver)
JPinmilw (Seattle)
Gus (Carolina)
and Kicky and Johnboy (Pittsburgh)

But you have the Pates as winning the Superbowl, and that isn't going to happen. Denver saw to that, or rather New England saw to that.

For some reason it seems to me that it was longer than a week ago that we had games to follow, But here we are. Nine of yall are on the bench; yalls picks for the eventual Superbowl winner are no longer playing. Three or more others will be sent to sidelines later today.

It appears that Denver and Seattle are each favored by about three points.

Going for Denver is FBAEZER (a capitalized name means that picker has the same team selected as winning the Superbowl)
Tilting towards Pittsburgh: KICKY and REALJOHNBOY
Betting on Seattle: Fbaezer, Region, JPINMILW, Liontamerex, Kicky and Panzade
And pulling for Carolina: Child of Light, El-diablo and GUS.

Check back here later tonight to find out who is still in the running amongst Fbaezer, Jpinmilw, Gus, Kicky or Johnboy for the coveted trophy.
Um, on second thought it could be past my bedtime...

Ha, ha. The Steelers win big. FOUR Denver turnovers. Ha, ha.
Ahem. So Fbaezer heads to the sideline, helmet in hand. as his pick for the Superbowl champion limps off the field. Kicky and Johnboy are partying.
Still to watch is Carolina at Seatlle. Jpinmilw vs Gus

Pittsburgh can beat either of them, by the way.

"Is there anyone here" johnboy shouts out, slipping into the dreaded third person style of writing.
So Seattle takes care of Carolina convincingly.
Two not very close games today. That kind of surprised me.
Anyway, Gus is sent to the showers. And the Superbowl match up is set.
Seattle (picked by JPinmilw) vs Pittsburgh (chosen by Kicky and Johnboy). I am quite confident that this trophy will remain in my garage for another year.

How 'bout another (perhaps smaller) trophy for picking winner, split and, I dunno, score at halftime? The trifecta, as it were.

Jespah: Last year we did do a consolation round thing where we all got a chance to just pick the Superbowl. This year I think we'll skip that as Panzade already has a pretty lively site going entitled "Attn: NFL fans" etc. It would be a bit redundant to duplicate that. Plus, Panzade, being far richer than Johnboy, puts out a much more lavish buffet than my selection of Ritz crackers and Cheez-Whiz. So lets crash that Superbowl party.

Kicky: It is no big deal, but both of us have the Steelers. So one of us will, of course, win, unless the total number of points scored is 53. Then we would tie. Would you like to change your tiebreaker prediction from 48 to either 47 or 49? If not, I can adjust mine by 1 point

Jpinmilw: Watch Seattle choke. Choke, choke, choke. Watch, watch watch.

I do hope that yall, all 14 of you, will check in again here after the Superbowl as we put this thread away for the season. Thank you.

Thanks for giving me the option RJB, but I'm stickin' with what I said in the beginning. You guys are going to be pretty surprised when Bettis rumbles in for the touchdown in OT to win it.

Steelers! Steelers! Steelers!

If it goes to OT, I really doubt they'd run it.

(Well, maybe if they had the ball with short yardage from the goal and a
down or two to give, they'd hand it to the Bus just because. Otherwise...)

My prediction was a 3-yard touchdown rumble.

36-yard line. 3rd and 1. Hand it to the Bus.

Makes perfect sense to me.

I think I see what you mean.

But if the game's in overtime and I've got the ball on the three, I think I'd
opt for the FG rather than the run. (Not that Bettis would ever fumble at
the goal line, mind you...)

Oh damn, I made a typo. That should have been "36-yard", not "3-yard".

36-yard TD rumble. THAT is what will happen this sunday. I can't wait!!!
