according to the proverb at the end of the latest Welcome to Night Vale podcast

A million dollars isn't a sandwich. You know what's a sandwich? A taco.

I wonder...

...if I place a taco between two slices of bread, does that make it a taco sandwich?

No. In Spanish that is what is known as a "pendejada".

@Sturgis,
The word "taco" is in "Espanol". So, you seem to be OK with learning a couple of Spanish words.

A sandwich, by definition, requires 2 pieces of bread. A taco does not consist or 2 pieces of bread. Therefore, a taco is NOT a sandwich.

@roger,
My italian teacher and later pal took the class out for lunch in LA as a class outing. Of course we went to a place that had, among other good food, pizza.
She used a knife and fork to eat it. She was born in Bologna and went to university in Padova, or maybe it was the opposite. She came to the US for more studies, and married a creepy guy, which she figured out later. I don't remember the details, but I remember it hitting the papers. Interesting woman, good teacher.

A sandwich doesn't require 2 pieces of bread. I've eaten plenty of sandwiches which I made with 1 piece. What about an "open faced sandwich"

Tortillas are a type of bread. A sandwich is filling inside of a piece or more of bread.

@ossobucotemp,
French fries should be eaten by hand with a small pot of water near by to clean your hands. Of course we all know this is not common practice nowadays but still that is how you suposed to eat them. Personally I think this is even truer with Pizza. That said I think we all agree each person should do how it pleases her.
Anyway a pizza in a plate would make more sense square and cut in smaller chunks.

@chai2,
If a Burrito is a sandwhich, so is a sushi roll.

If it doesn't have 2 pieces of bread on the outside, it is not a sandwich. You had a single piece of bread. Therefore you did not have a sandwich.

According to your rule, a slice of pizza would be a sandwich and we all know that a slice of pizza is not a sandwich.

@McGentrix,
What about a sandwich from a French baguette or single Italian roll cut down the middle or a hoagie/hero/sub/etc... style sammich?

Neither a burrito or a sushi roll is a sandwich. Tortilla is not bread. Having similar ingredients does mean they are the same thing.

@McGentrix,
You get really upset when people don't think the way you want them to. Trump hasn't eliminated freedom of thought yet.

According to your logic an ice cream sandwich isn't a sandwich. You going to lock up all those who continue to use the term?
