I check them very carefully, wipe them on my napkin, and if needed use a little water from my water glass... that is after I check to see if my water glass is clean as well.

I'm also a slight germaphobe. I do not like to be touched by anyone who isn't family or in my close circle (of folks I see dailly), I wash my hands after EVERYTHING including touching myself (my eye for example) even if it's in the middle of the night, I do my best to open doors with my sleeve, and I am a nutcase using the bathroom.

However, I wouldn't say I'm at a "What about Bob" level.

I will eat anything no matter where it was.

Hmmm, I usually check my silverware, but washing it? Impressive.

I've got a slight case of gephyrophobia -- fear of crossing (tall) bridges. Also a great fear of driving down steep mountain grades when no guard rails are present.

I had a friend that had this bad. He would actually pull over to the side of the road if he was driving and make someone else drive over the bridge while he was in the back seat with his head buried so he didn't have to watch. If he was by himself he would actually turn around and find another way over what ever he was crossing no matter how much time he added to the trip.

I attribute my good health to the fact that I'm a slob and give my immune system a workout every day.

well there you go... best way to keep your immune system up and running is to bombard it every hour of every day

Panzade -- That's what George Carlin said about swimming in the East River... good for the immune system.

Yes, but it includes dangling above the water and the knowledge that many people have been crunched. Unfortunately, I have to cross this bridge often!

Also, it's predecessor fell, see photo. I'm not so bad as jp's friend. I just like to stay in the slow lane, go the speed limit and not think. I love the view from there and singing helps. In fact, I went to a psychologist because I found myself opening the window and singing whenever I crossed and he said that was an excellent way to overcome the problem. It's considered a compensatory act that a fearful person can do (would be weird in a restaurant, however, while polishing the forks).

I developed acrophobia sort of late in the game... one sunny day I was visiting a client for a site visit... in the far reaches of Malibu, up Deer Canyon Road, which I'd never been on before. Mountain high, valley soooooo low, no guardrails, very narrow road around curve. I got to the house okay, because Going, I had the passenger side of the car be next to another "cliff" going up.

Coming back, after she happened to mention to be careful, several people had gone over the side...
I had a real fight or flight response. You can't tell if another car is coming, to ride mid narrow road... if it was 14 feet wide, I think I'd be exaggerating... I didn't want to go ahead and I didn't want to stop. Heart pounding..yikes. I was never so glad to get to the coast highway, and I've had some scaredycat feelings since on other mountain roads with no siderails. Luckily, the best thing to do in that client's situation, re post fire stabilization, was nothing, which I found out by conferring with various specialists re that particular site situation (her land wasn't sloped, at least not much). So I could take care of that with a phone call..phewie.

On bridges, usually my pleasure supercedes my fear.
Usually.

Tunnels, yaaak. Depends on the tunnel and the light in it and around it. With my weird eyes, it can be tough to drive into a dim tunnel on a very sunny day, as I don't adapt fast.

There are a few tunnels that don't bother me, being so well lit in any case that I can deal. But when I was in Italy driving my turn with my ex as a passenger, I did pull over at tunnels and have him drive, 'cause the tunnels were unknowns.

I would like to point out that anyone with a fear of excessive facial hair will be curled up in a little ball next to their computer right now.
