Its always instructive to see which posters take the trouble to speak up when someone on

Of all the rights Americans enjoy (for the most part), freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom to practice one's religion, ifor instance, t boggles the mind that the right to bear arms is somehow the overweening concern for some of us.

While it is true that the presence of guns causes homicide rates to rise slightly, the effect is only slight.
People kill each other at pretty much the same rate with or without guns.
Talk about a blanket statement. Is there any evidence for it? Or is this another mantra, like "Guns don't kill people (etc.)"?
