@Finn dAbuzz,
Ginger is great for nausea, but this gut thing is a little tougher. Today the dull ache seems to have lifted.....it did the same thing yesterday but not until about 9 PM, today it lifted about 3 PM. Maybe ginger will help after tonight. I'm hoping I can drop one of the antibiotics and rest my insides for awhile. Thanks for asking.

As far as visiting England, it's very sad that Trump and company don't take advantage of the professionals at our State Department. They would be able to prevent him from appearing crass or foolish. I know diplomacy strikes some as a bullshit service, but even if we want to swagger like drunk cowboys, the rest of the civilized world adheres to protocols to avoid misunderstandings and
foster good relationships.

Trump will leave his mark in American history - for gaining the highest disapproval rating in modern times. I would be surprised if he doesn't resign first or get impeached.
His appointment of family members to important positions in our government shows how ignorant he is.

Oh please take my bet... PLEASE.

I don't know what you're hoping to achieve with such foolish remarks, but I'm pretty sure it's not what you hope.

I've been pretty sick the last 4 or 5 days (antibiotics caused an erosion in the stomach lining) and have been a little too tired to properly keep up. Does anyone know if Trump really asked to be carted around in the gold carriage with Queen Elizabeth or is that just fake news that's believable because of his bottomless need for glorification? I hope it's not true, it's incredibly stressful thinking about how many insulting gaffes he could make.

Tsk tsk tsk, they show you all those training films but what good did it do, huh?

@giujohn,
Not all important political observations are based on bets with foolish people.
Trump's disapproval rating at 56% is enough reward.

@Finn dAbuzz,
Hang in, Glitter.
It didn't occur to me that the gold carriage thing isn't real, Finn is right, and this is a sign that I'm nice and sane - or that I have no concept of how far fake news plays. This may be part of it.

Finn and I don't always disagree.

@ossobucotemp,
I don't know if it's true either, it seems too crass even for Trump. I've only seen 2 mentions of it, and neither one seems dependable. Really just wondered if anyone else had more definitive info.

@glitterbag,
Hope you feel better soon.

People were really pissed off that May offered Trump a state visit before he'd done anything in office, it's usual to wait a couple of years first.

State visits used to mean something, now it's like the pomp and circumstance ride at a theme park for rich old presidents. He'll get the bespoke feel like a princess for a day treatment, and he'll probably give us back Virginia in the heat of the moment.

Trump is pretty much hated throughout Europe. The protests will be huge.

That depends. How well did you know his family.

I agree.

I don't have negotiations in mind and I don't believe the Trump administration does either.

@glitterbag,
There are a lot of bullshit political appointees in the State Dept (big donors who buy ambassador positions) and it appears that there are more than a few partisans who aren't professional enough to keep there personal politics separate from their jobs, but I don't know anyone who truly thinks diplomacy is bullshit and all of those in the diplomatic corps are full of it.

The matter of the Trump & the Golden Carriage isn't even a rain shower in a teapot. As previously noted there have been other leaders from not-so-cheesy nations that have enjoyed a ride with the queen. If Trump does it as well, it won't be unusual, boorish or in any way unseemly. It could be dangerous for him and the queen, but that's an entirely different matter.

@ossobucotemp,
No we don't.

Anyone who wants to understand the reality of the this golden carriage faux controversy can find it without too much trouble. There's nothing to it in terms of what Trump-Haters are trying to make out if it. Not really "fake news" just minor news spun, by some, in as negative fashion as they possibly can. The notion that Trump is "demanding" a ride with the queen is baloney. Why would be demand something that's obviously available to visiting dignitaries through a simple request?

The folks trying to peddle a Trump horror story with this bit of fluff are incorrigible, and obsessed. He's capable of plenty of boorish actions without it being necessary to turn something innocent into one, but that's where we are in today's world of politics.
