@cicerone imposter,
Yeah. I'll hold off on much personal commentary re the bill itself and consequences of it because this stuff is complicated. There are lots of people who have studied this in depth and I'll attend to them as time goes on. But knowing GOP ideology in this period and the forces at work in the party, we can make some pretty clear predictions about who will win and who will lose. And about the sort of PR campaign the GOP will launch. The CBO will make projections and that will mean something (even if we know exactly how the Republicans will respond to that).

@blatham,
It's interesting how so many people can be hoodwinked into thinking that the republicans are going to do anything that benefits the middle class and the poor. Their history speaks for itself, but many people refuse to "sees it."

So Trump was up and tweeting this morning after being inspired by something he was watching on Fox.
Quote:
Kicking things off this morning, Trump declared, based on something he saw on Fox, "122 vicious prisoners, released by the Obama Administration from Gitmo, have returned to the battlefield. Just another terrible decision!"

To the extent that reality still has any meaning, Trump has no idea what he's talking about. As the president should at least try to understand, of the 122 prisoners in question, 113 were released by the Bush/Cheney administration, not Obama. This was documented quite clearly by officials in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, who wrote a report that was only a page-and-a-half long -- brief enough for even Trump to read.

But he didn't want to read it. Trump instead relied, once again, on conservative media instead of officials on his own executive branch. This happens with alarming frequency.
Benen

Steve goes on to talk about Trump's fixation on Obama that seems to be growing by the day. This surely isn't just about blaming Obama for Trump's myriad woes. It's about his failure to gain respect, his failure to be lauded and held in high esteem - simply because he won the nomination and then the election. But that's because these things are all he wanted or wants. Greater celebrity.

God only knows what has created such ego-fragility in the guy but the one thing we can say is that he's a fake alpha male.

Switzerland!? They have great yodellers, no question about it (they always dominate in Switzerland's Got Talent contests). But what about wheat? They have no wheat, for the love of god.

Yet another basic error by Agent Orange. The Irish will be happy, they don't want to be associated with that idiot.

Quote:

US President Donald Trump's Irish spin on his signature "Make America Great Again" hat has caught the internet's attention... for sporting the wrong clover.

The Donald J Trump online shop is selling the "Official Make America Great Again Green Hat" ahead of St Patrick's Day on 17 March.

The description for the hat says it has an "embroidered four-leaf clover" on the back.
Many Twitter users were quick to point out that an Irish shamrock, used as a symbol for St Patrick's Day, is in fact a three-leaf clover.

A shamrock is a young sprig of clover and it is said that Saint Patrick used shamrocks to illustrate the Holy Trinity. As such, it has come to be associated with St Patrick's day.

Four-leaf clovers are said to bring good luck and are rarer in abundance.
A US-based marketing strategist called out the error by illustrating the difference between a shamrock and a four-leaf clover.

She added: "Don't mess it up, #marketing geeks, for #StPatricksDay."

One user said the mishap made the president "culturally clueless".

Another dubbed it a scandal, using the hashtag #shamrockgate.

@Walter Hinteler,
Thanks Walter. See, even you Germans are way better than the Swiss (who obviously eat a lot of cheeses).

I was thinking this morning about this president and how deeply in over his head he is on almost every aspect of his job. And along with that, a WH that is more chaotic and incompetent than anything in my lifetime. And this isn't something that a secret.

What on earth are the Koreans now thinking? Or the Chinese? Or, obviously, the Russians? How do they not conclude that this is the most opportune circumstance to act?

You know, real bomb-grade bullshit like that is rare. Or is that something you dug up from the late 1890s or something?

Sweden today is basically an abused nation due to policies which you can read about the first day you ever get your head outside of an MSM only world. In many if not most parts of Sweden today women can't go outdoors after dark. The reasons for that are well known; Sweden is now being called the rape capital of the Western world, second in the entire world only two Lesotho. In fact, if I had to pick a worst country in Europe, it would probably be Sweden due to the extreme state of pussification amongst the populace at large, and that goes back decades and is not just something which has arisen due to recent efforts of globalism.

A friend once described and experience driving in Sweden in the late 1960s. He claimed he was driving eight or 10 cars behind an extreme slowpoke who is doing 45 or 50 and a 60 zone. He took a safe opportunity to pass several of the cars in line (who were in no hurry to try to pass), leaving only the slowpoke in one or two cars behind him to pass at the next opportunity. But all of the other drivers began just blaring their horns and never stopped that, until a cop finally pulled my friend over:

Quote:
"Are you an American?"

"Yes..." My friend replied.

Quote:
"You should make a mental note, in Sweden, we don't speed..."

My buddy asked the cop for directions for the shortest way back to Germany, and promptly gave up on the idea of getting any more of a look from that at Sweden.

@blatham,
The problem with the CBO projections are the same ones that Republicans charged with the ACA. Most of the real changes happen 4+ years from now which is just going to make the numbers look better.

That being said, the numbers are still going to look horrible.

Of course, calling Sweden the worst Europe has to offer assumes that nobody would ever call Kosovo a country... Kosovo is a Serbian province which is temporarily under NATO control; I assume that most criminal activity in Kosovo will cease when Serbia regains control of it.
