Oh for f's sake, stand up and disavow yourself from these two paragraphs. We know you support Trump and no one expects that to change. But really, rather than contorting yourself into these embarrassing defensive postures, just come out and admit that he was a bit out of his league here and might have been better off keeping his mouth shut.
You know what he said the next day, right?
"I was asking a very sarcastic question to the reporters in the room about disinfectant on the inside," he said during a briefing in the Oval Office on April 24. "But it does kill it, and it would kill it on the hands, and that would make things much better.
That was done in the form of a sarcastic question to the reporters."
Now really, is that credible? Even Trump realized, 1) it was stupid as hell, 2) it was on tape, and 3) he had to walk it back. He came up with the "sarcastic question" excuse but honestly, if you look at the video there was
no evidence of sarcasm aimed at the press, and if you just read the transcript, there's really not even any "question to the reporters" — the guy's just free-associating to hear himself talk. (It's such a lame excuse — and it's not the first time he's claimed, after public criticism, that he "was only joking". He's a loser.)
Would it really be that awful to admit that once, just this once, Trump might have been more effective if he had conducted himself differently? I mean, what do you have to lose? Do you really worship this clown to such a degree that you can't accept the slightest hint of fallibility on his part? What, or who, are you afraid of?
