I dislike intensely starting threads. I am no good at it and I don't even respond in my own thread and people rarely show up. But 😉the following subject is very important to me, I know first hand and personal just what these kids are going through cause my own granddaughters live with me, at least for now. (complicated)

Students are falling behind in online school. Where's the COVID-19 'disaster plan' to catch them up?

Quote:
MILWAUKEE – Ruby Rodriguez remembers the days when English class meant walking to her desk, talking to friends and checking the board.

Now class begins when her classmates' names appear online. She sits alone at the dining room table, barefoot and petting the family dog. It's her freshman year at St. Anthony High School, a private Catholic school in Milwaukee. She doesn't know what her classmates look like, because nobody ever turns on their cameras.

After schools in Milwaukee went remote last March, Ruby and her friends in eighth grade at St. Anthony's middle school missed their graduation ceremonies and parties. Her close friends attended different high schools, mostly other private schools that offered in-person instruction. St. Anthony, like many schools in urban areas, including Milwaukee Public Schools, started the fall semester online amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Virtual learning might be keeping Ruby, 14, and her family safer during a public health crisis. But it has made it exponentially harder for her to stay motivated and learn. Her online classes are lecture-heavy, repetitive and devoid of student conversation. Her grades have dropped from A's and B's to D's and F's. She stays up too late. She sleeps a lot. She misses her friends.
Like millions of students attending school virtually this year, Ruby is floundering academically, socially and emotionally. And as the pandemic heaves into a winter surge, a slew of new reports show alarming numbers of kids falling behind, failing classes or not showing up at all.

Just a bit of the article. But it is a big deal and I don't know why it is not talked about more.

@revelette3,
It is sad and for the next 20 years it will be the subject of many discussions and theories.

From what I hear, my grandson and granddaughter are doing very well completing requirements faster than if they were in the old school house setting. Good luck with your granddaughters rev! Fortunately, I'm not the one responsible for my grandkids schooling.

Now that I remember, my wife took care.of our grandson last year and he always got things done faster - he knew he got his computer time after assignments completed. He is in a magnate (I think that's correct) school this year.

New: The Antrim County hand tally affirms certified election results.

Total change after recounting nearly 16,000 votes? Trump netted 12 more votes.

You mean the recount no one was allowed to see? I posted a picture of the vantage point. Nothing could be seen from that distance. Illegal votes are easy to recount.

So the SCOTUS was intimidated by violence. Disgraceful. People have died to keep this country free and are prepared to do it again. Those riots would have been put down quickly.

Quote:
It was written by someone who was a current staffer for one of the current Supreme Court justices. I’ll just describe for you the report that I read, and you can make of it what you will. He said that the justices, as they always do, went into a closed room to discuss cases they are taking or do debate; there’s no phones, no computers, no nothing. No one else is in the room except for the nine justices. It’s typically very civil; they usually don’t hear any sound; they just debate what they are doing. But when the Texas case was brought up, he said he heard screaming through the walls as Justice Roberts and the other liberal justices were insisting that this case not be taken up. The reason…the words that were heard through the wall when Justice Thomas and Justice Alito were citing Bush vs. Gore, from John Roberts were “I don’t give a…about that case, I don’t want to hear about it. At that time, we didn’t have riots.

So what he was saying was that he was afraid of what would happen if they did the right thing. And I’m sorry, but that is moral cowardice. And we in the SREC (note, this is the State Republican Executive Committee), and I am an SREC member, we put those words in there very specifically. Because the charge of the Supreme Court is to ultimately be our final arbitrator, our final line of defense for right and wrong, and they did not do their duty. So I think we should leave these words in because I want to send a strong message to them.

Violence and fraud. The Democratic brown shirt way. This election was illegitimate.

It also means Texas would have won that case.

It contains the forensic audit done in Michigan that proves systemic voter fraud occurred through the Dominion Voting System tabulation. It also has proof of at least 200,000 FRAUDULANT VOTES casted in the election.

Let's hope that people realize they were intimidated with violence. This time they can't use that excuse.

@BillW,
My granddaughter finally is too, the youngest one. It was a terrible struggle, but now she is proud to get her assignments done early in the day, so she can spend the rest of the day messing around. The oldest was always ahead of the curve. Pretty sure she is going to to skip senior year and go right into college next year. Still, my youngest wants to go to regular school, the only way (me and my husband have health problems) she can do that is move back with mom and they will have to figure child care (she lives in another state) but she says she wants to, she misses her and misses school.

Still like the article further said below the advertisement, it is a nation wide disaster for students, worse for special needs students and students in environments where it is hard to set up a good place to study with all the tech stuff they need, Or just students in not an ideal home environment, or students where both parents work, not to mention students who are just starting out or just learning English.

sorry to get off on a soap box, but, anyway...

@coldjoint,
Funnily enough, your conspiracy theory requires:
- vast sections of the media to be part of the conspiracy
- vast sections of the judiciary to be part of the conspiracy
- vast sections of the electoral offices to be part of the conspiracy
- vast numbers of the democrats to be part of the conspiracy
...which incredibly large, widespread conspiracists are managing to keep the same agenda (not splinter), with little or no reward for themselves (particularly the judiciary and electoral offices) and no leaks...is simply unbelievable

It's a bit like the 9-11 conspiracy theory in how little thought it gives to the people involved and the operational requirements (of course in the 9-11 conspiracy theory - those who believe in it don't sit down and work out just how many people with specific skill sets would need to be involved, willing to murder thousands and keeping quiet even though there is little to no benefit in it for them. It is quite unbelievable that so many engineers would engage in such a conspiracy, with little reward, little remorse, and not a one of them ever spill the beans). In a similar way - your conspiracy theory doesn't give thought to the number of people needed to be involved, from so many different vocations, with little reward for many of them, and all of them staying silent about this very, very large conspiracy theory.

The only conspiracy theory out there is that there was no voter fraud.

Atlantic City to auction off demolition of former Trump casino

Quote:
The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City went bankrupt and shut in 2014. Now, the city is auctioning off the chance to dynamite it for charity.

The property was one of three Trump-branded casinos that once formed the centrepiece of the world-famous resort city nicknamed "America's playground".

But as revenues plummeted, Mr Trump cut his losses and his ties with the city.

City officials have called several times for the idle building to be torn down after chunks of the crumbling landmark repeatedly broke off and fell onto surrounding streets.

A bidding process that began on Thursday will determine who gets the right to count down and hit the button that will raze the 39-floor casino.

Proceeds from the auction will fund the local chapter of the Boys & Girls Club of America, a youth development organisation.

"I want to raise at least a million dollars and I think we can accomplish that," said Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr, in a press conference.

The mayor said his office has already been "bombarded" with phone calls about the auction, from Arkansas to Canada.

A noted hotspot of the "Roaring Twenties'', Atlantic City resurfaced in the 1980s as the de facto casino capital of the US east coast.

Touting it as a counterweight to Las Vegas, Donald Trump opened Trump Plaza at the centre of its famed boardwalk in 1984, then two more casinos, including the Trump Taj Mahal (which marketed itself as "the eighth wonder of the world").

However, as gambling laws eased in neighbouring states, out-of-state gamblers stayed away and casino revenues dried up. Meanwhile, Mr Trump took on mountains of debt and endured negative press.

He distanced himself from the failing casinos and each one was sold off as his company filed for bankruptcy.

Atlantic City's Mayor Small has been critical of Mr Trump's past, saying: "He said he took advantage of the bankruptcy laws, took advantage of a lot of people, made a lot of money and then got out, so it's extremely important that we do something worthwhile with this [demolition]".

However, Mr Trump has held up his Atlantic City exploits as a success, once tweeting: "Does anyone notice that Atlantic City lost its magic after I left years ago?"

The demolition - originally set for January but postponed by inclement weather - will take place sometime in February.

@revelette3,
A small caution, I entered college in what would hqve been tenth grade. I was a mess socially and lost interest in my second year .I went back home and did some lab assistant(As unpaid) work in a research chem lab,When my social skills and age leveled in the next year college was a blast and was o interesting doing things I had no idea existed the year before. I was still like 18 in my jr year undergrad but it was like I matured 5 years.

@Builder,
Quote:

Do you mean:
- an experiment done by one group of people (as compared to the numerous groups of people in the 'voter fraud' conspiracy)
- with much less numbers than would be required by the 'voter fraud conspiracy'
- all of them with obviously racist attitudes (as opposed to the 'voter fraud' conspiracy)
- in an era of different attitudes to using people as guinea pigs
- with the employer able to tell people to keep quiet
- likely without whistleblower protection laws
- without CCTV and easy recording devices to leak unethical behaviours
- without social media (leaving only mainstream media to report to)
- without the Judiciary being involved, and making public ruling against the 'voter fraud' conspiracy

Is that the experiment you meant to compare to the current day voter fraud conspiracy theory?

You do realise you are alleging a conspiracy right? And the 'no voter fraud mainstream media platform' is part of the conspiracy you believe in? So you are simply repeating part of what I said you believe?

And that conspiracy requires all the things I said?
