What Trump really wants from his risky rallies

Opinion by Dean Obeidallah

(CNN)Nothing sums up more why Donald Trump is in such a rush to get back on the campaign trail than his Saturday event at the White House. The hundreds of supporters who gathered on the South Lawn dressed in MAGA gear not only exploded in cheers when the President spoke, they chanted in unison: "We love you!" In response, Trump beamed as he told them, "I love you, too."

Trump wants to hold rallies with large crowds because the notoriously thin-skinned President seems desperate to hear the approval of his supporters. This is less about politics and more about his ego.

@BillW,
And yet, and "ongoing investigation" worked in 2016.

Let's see how it pans out this time, shall we?

He has been called everything he possibly could be called and he still punches back. To say he is thin skinned is like saying Biden was a Rhodes scholar.

Generally when you get busted plagiarising on a term paper, you're out on your arse.

I wonder if Biden had to buy his second test attempt?

Telangana: Upset over Trump contracting Covid, his ardent fan dies of cardiac arrest

Quote:
An ardent fan of Donald Trump from Telangana, Bussa Krishna, who worshipped the US president like a God, died of cardiac arrest on Sunday. Krishna, who has been worshipping Trump every day for the last years, was depressed ever since he learnt that the US President and his wife, Melania, contracted Covid-19 recently.

B Vivek, a cousin, told indianexpress.com that Krishna woke up in the morning as usual, had a bath and a cup of tea, and then collapsed on the ground. “He had slipped into depression after hearing about Trump contracting coronavirus. He was not eating properly. When we rushed him to the hospital, the doctors declared him dead. The cause of death is a cardiac arrest,” he said.

Quote:
Krishna had recently shared multiple videos of him, often in tears, wishing the Trump family a speedy recovery on his Facebook page. Krishna’s devotion for Trump started four years ago, reportedly after the US President appeared in his early morning dream. A native of Konne village in Jangaon district, Krishna initially started offering prayers to a framed photograph of Trump.

He stuck Trump’s photographs across the walls in his home and even started wearing T-shirts imprinted with his idol’s images. Wherever he went, he carried a framed photograph of Trump. Last year, the 33-year-old decided to spend Rs 2 lakh and erected a 6-feet tall statue of Trump at his home. This came to be known as the ‘Trump temple’. It was his wish to meet the US President once when he visited India earlier this year.

Quote:
Even though Krishna’s parents moved to Toopran in Medak district a few years ago, he continued to stay in Konne village. “His mother had to undergo knee surgery and he has been here in Toopran for the last 10-15 days. As usual, he did his ‘Trump pujas’ and went to the fields. He was perfectly healthy,” the cousin said. The family performed his last rites in Toopran on Sunday evening. His wife had passed away during the delivery of their son, who lives in Hyderabad with his maternal grandparents.

In Konne village, news of Krishna’s sudden death has cast a pall of gloom. The village sarpanch Venkat Goud said it was hard to believe that their ‘Trump Krishna’ had passed away without meeting his ‘God’ even once.

Calling Krishna’s death a grave loss to the village, Venkat said Krishna brought international attention to the small village with his devotion to Trump. “Usually, we see people build temples for their Gods. Some people turn ardent followers of regional and national leaders. For the first time, someone had built a temple for an international leader like Trump. Krishna made us all proud and we were all hoping that his dream of meeting Trump came true someday,” he said.

“As much as we are sad that he died without meeting Trump even once, we hope, at least the news of his death, reaches Trump now,” the sarpanch said.

@coldjoint,
All through this pandemic Trump has used the pandemic to go after democrat governors who put stricter (not just democrats did so but they were the target of Trump tweets) parameters in effort to slow the devastation. He has said the Michigan Governor should negotiate with armed protesters. He always sides with the aggressive violent right wing extremist and White supremacist. Last but not least, not directed towards the Michigan Governor but to all democrats ("leftist"), Trump told groups like proud boys to stand down and stand by was actually celebrated by white nationalist and supremacy groups the next day.

For you to deny the pattern of behavior of Trump and it's real consequence is just par for course for you. I will not respond to your response.

Trump: "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by! But I'll tell you what, somebody's got to do something about antifa and the left."

Trump was inciting a violence between so called Antifa and violent White supremacist. He also included a vague "leftist" which means anybody who votes democrat or progressive and/or agrees with a democrat/progressive agenda.

Twitter officially "insults" Trump for his "good news" of being immune to COVID-19:

No he wasn't. That is the usual bullshit of accusing someone of what you are doing yourself. It is not white supremacists against Anti-Fa it is regular citizens running them out of their towns. The media is making this crap up to support their shameful narrative.

As he should, those governors killed small businesses, some will never reopen.

with armed protesters.

Carrying guns is legal in Michigan. She had no reason not to negotiate.

Twitter was not elected. They represent progressive fanatics who cannot debate, only censor and make false claims from biased fact checkers disputing what they simply do not want people to hear.

@oristarA,
You've got it wrong. Twitter is not "insulting" Trump. it's flagging his post for being misleading. There is no proof that having had coronavirus makes you immune from getting it again. Immunity is possible but so is reinfecton. there is no clear evidence as yet, so \trumps boast goes beyond the facts and could potentially lead to many more infections so it was flagged.. And trump's reputation for truth-telling is nonexistent.

I always knew punk rockers were smarter than Democrats. This one is telling you what Democrats have done and why he is voting for Trump.

He is voting for Trump because he does not want a politician running the world.

More far right bullshit trying to shift the blame for trump's unconscionable actions. And failing badly at doing so.

Isn't labeling a very stable genius' vital message as misleading a great insult to the genius?

That is incorrect. Mr. Trump has repeatedly condemned white supremacy and aggressive violence.

revelette1 wrote:

Calling for people to be protected from leftist violence is not incitement, and has nothing to do with white supremacy.

Leftists are bad. People need to be protected from them.
