@snood,
I've thought about that before--it's really scary, and sad.

@izzythepush,
Others spoke about it first. They are the ones you should speak to.

They won’t accuse me of what they did with impunity. You wouldn’t put up with it.

If you prefer me to stop talking about it, stop falsely accusing me.

@Lash,
I find consistency is the solution. I’ve never tried to portray myself as something I’m not. I was a Socialist when I first arrived on A2K and I’m a Socialist now. I don’t affect Socialism in order to further a right agenda, because I believe in it.

@izzythepush,
We all have our own life stories.
Some people consider life a maze of learning through new experiences listening to other perspectives toward self-actualization.
Some think they couldn’t possibly improve on their intrinsic perfection.

To each, his (or her) own.

@Lash,
You’ve said that before, but Socialists, and I know a lot of them, don’t spend all their time attacking past presidents and presidential candidates when there’s a fascist in the White House.

All of their energies are focussed on getting this abomination out. It’s similar to when Le Pen and Chirac were in the run off for the French presidency. Socialists voted for Chirac knowing full well he was a corrupt money grubbing sod because the alternative was much much worse.

You never attack Trump unless challenged, and even then it’s a half hearted criticism.

It’s like you’re going through the motions instead of acting with real conviction.

The only people who appear to accept your alleged conversion are far right posters because they know your rhetoric helps their cause.

@izzythepush,
Sorry, but you’ve been elected the spokesman for Socialists? They all have uniform beliefs? Quite a claim.

There are thousands of people I associate with in social media who are progressive, who desperately strive for the same set of public policies I strive for, who detest the Clintons and Biden and the old guard in DC who turned the Democrats into Republican lite who detest Trump who plan to #VoteGreen. Many of us are in the streets protesting racism and we are also there because of our corrupt system.

They/we are past partisan politics and have become aware that both political parties in this country are serving wealthy donors and neither serve the people.

The political parties have destroyed our country and we’re doing what we can to run them out of power and build something better.

You do you.
Imma do me.

That's right, vote Green, even though there's no candidate named, so that Lash can attain the consummation which she so devoutly desires--the re-election of the fat boy in the White House.

The system that belched Trump up to the top needs to be dismantled. There are more ‘trumps’ jostling in line. Like Bloomberg and Biden.

I don't think that izzy is either a member of the Shadow Cabinet ('elected') nor employed in the Labour Party Press Office.

But regarding those "uniform beliefs": yes, Socialist parties (like any other political party) have uniform beliefs, which members sign when ... well, when they become members (here Labour: Manifesto - equivalent for me: Principal guidelines of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (Hamburg Programme)

I’d really like ranked choice voting and let the chips fall—as long as we can improve vote security.

They have to promise not to criticize former presidents?

@bobsal u1553115,
Once again, I wouldn't.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be the last to complain if trump loses the election...

BUT, there are still plenty of gullible twits in your country like coldjoint here, not to mention completely narcissistic and racist idiots like oralloy/yellow cake to go around, and more to the point: who WILL vote for trump, and sure as hell NOT biden (or any other democrat). Like it or not, trump has emboldened every narcissist, and racist out there, and has given them the voice they didn't have before - that they've never had with any other US president... ever. Trump has effectively created a movement of narcissistic and racist morons, and that doesn't stop at your country's borders either - isn't there a bloke running Brazil just like trump? Guess who that moron's idol is? Trump.

Particularly given how divided your country currently is, I think it will be a lot closer than you think. And the democrats look like they are heading towards making the same mistake they did in 2016. Wanna know what that mistake was? Focusing on anything but the very people they want to vote for them (in this case a moron like trump, rather than the people). And that's the problem; like the democrats, you keep focusing on trump, doing exactly what he wants you to do (focus on him himself). So really, right now, and longer it takes for people to wake up and forget about trump, the longer trump wins.

The democrats would be far better off focusing on WHY they would be better than trump, like giving a rats ass about the same people they expect to vote for them. INSTEAD of always talking about how much of a moron trump is (which we already know anyway), then they could very likely topple trump... think about it.

@Lash,
I’m talking about the people I know, lifelong Socialists. They’re too sick of what Trump has been doing to worry about anyone else.

Apart from Johnson of course. They are over hereafter all.

@Lash,
Don’t be ridiculous. Nobody has to promise to do anything. I’m saying that the Socialists I know are far too busy dealing with the horrors inflicted by Trump and Johnson to bother with anyone else.

You’re the only person I’ve met who claims to be a Socialist yet puts all their effort into criticising the Clintons and Biden and only mentions Trump when pressed. The only one.

You claim you’re of a similar mind to Edgar, and although Edgar does criticise the Clintons and Biden he saves most of his condemnation for Trump.

And he’s been consistent.

That’s why people believe Edgar even though they may not agree with him, and it’s why nobody believes you.

@izzythepush,
I don’t claim to be a full-bore means of production Socialist.

I respect Edgar and I’m glad you do too.

I do not care if I’m believed; I don’t believe a lot I read here, but I don’t follow members around from thread to thread filling space with ad hominem attacks on others to try to censure their opinion—unless it is a direct response to that behavior against me.

It is juvenile and nonsensical. A bunch of weird old men who can’t bear a divergent opinion.

Just get over it.

@Lash,
What am I supposed to get over?

The fact I don’t believe you?

I’ve not directed any ad homs at you, and I don’t follow you from post to post.

I’ve said I don’t believe you and I’ve said why.

@Lash,
I don’t know what you mean by full bore means of production Socialist.

It sounds like you’re confusing Socialism with Communism.

Socialism predates Marx by centuries.

My inspiration is Kier Hardie.
