@MontereyJack,
Your post quoting the Hill is dead on correct. Over the years American traitors like Ron Pelton, Aldrich Ames, James Hall III, Robert Hanssen, Earl Pitts, Jonathan Pollard and John Walker were all caught when found to be engaging in unauthorized contact with hostile governments. These people have done a lot of damage to the security of the United States and to our Allies...

H.R. 6666: COVID-19 Testing, Reaching, And Contacting Everyone (TRACE) Act

This bill would provide $100 billion in grants to faith-based organization, clinics, medical centers, and other organization which perform testing for COVID–19, tracing of exposure to COVID–19, or services for individuals who are isolating at home. The funding could be used to pay their staff or purchase personal protective equipment to protect their staff.

No provision in this bill would make testing or quarantining mandatory. The bill includes privacy protections for the medical information of individuals that would limit how grantee organizations could share information collected with the federal government. (A widely seen disinformation campaign has made absurd claims about this bill.)

QUESTIONABLE SOURCE

A questionable source exhibits one or more of the following: extreme bias, consistent promotion of propaganda/conspiracies, poor or no sourcing to credible information, a complete lack of transparency and/or is fake news. Fake News is the deliberate attempt to publish hoaxes and/or disinformation for the purpose of profit or influence (Learn More). Sources listed in the Questionable Category may be very untrustworthy and should be fact checked on a per article basis. Please note sources on this list are not considered fake news unless specifically written in the reasoning section for that source. See all Questionable sources.

Overall, we rate DC Clothesline Questionable based on the publication of news with an extreme right wing bias, promotion of far right propaganda, conspiracies and fake news stories passed off as real without a disclaimer. This appears to be a satire website. If this is not satire, then we are left speechless as virtually every story is unbelievable.

Detailed Report

Reasoning: Extreme Right, Propaganda, Conspiracy, Fake News
Country: USA
World Press Freedom Rank: USA 48/180

History

Founded in July 2013 by Dean Garrison, DC Clothesline is the parent site of the Questionable DC Dirty Laundry. Like most non-credible websites, DC Clothesline does not have an about page, disclaimer and discloses little information.

Funded by / Ownership

DC Clothesline is owned by Dean Garrison and funded through online advertising and an affiliate link to a store at Keep and Bear.

Analysis / Bias

In review, if DC Clothesline had a disclaimer that stated they were satire, that would be great. Unfortunately, that is not the case. They are passing off extreme right conspiracies, propaganda and outright fake news as real. You can pick any day of the week and find outrageous headlines that are either totally misleading or flat out false. Let’s look at a few headlines from today (3/15/2019).

Homeland Security: ‘President Barack Obama was NOT ELIGIBLE to work in the United States’ – (This is sourced to the highly incredible BirtherReport)
John Podesta sent an assassination email 3 days before suspicious death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia – (Comes from the Right wing conspiracy site, Conspiracy of the Minds)
Interview with Retired Vaccine Researcher: ‘The last thing I would allow is for my child to be vaccinated.’ – (Anti-Vaxx Propaganda)

Keep in mind this is just today. There is more fake news and conspiracies in the last 24 hours. In general, every story on this website is either 100% right wing biased, propaganda, a debunked conspiracy theory or straight up fake news.

A factual search reveals several failed fact checks by IFCN Fact Checkers.

Did President Obama order that “behavioral experiments” be carried out on the American people? – Mostly False
Nugent ties gory photo to Bergdahl prisoner swap as ‘one of the subhuman mongrels our president set free’ – Pants on Fire
No, George Soros is not bankrolling John Kasich’s campaign – False
False claims of a coming ice age spread through ecosystem of unreliable news sites, blogs, and social media accounts – False

(D. Van Zandt 8/10/2016) Updated (3/15/2019)

Infamous Susan Rice Email to Herself Finally Declassified, Deals Directly With Michael Flynn

More facts that prove Flynn was set up and framed, and Obama knew it and allowed it. So, anyone want to tell me what gave Obama that right. It was clearly wrong.

Quote:

What this provides is further evidence that the Obama administration was targeting Michael Flynn. It also shows that Obama himself was intimately involved in the campaign to kneecap the incoming NSA. Here we see the suggestion that sensitive information be withheld from Flynn, with Comey saying that should “potentially” be the case. There’s some irony in Comey’s “concerns” given it was his FBI that shared classified intelligence with Christopher Steele against regulations.

What’s most noteworthy though is the lack of any evidence whatsoever to back up their suspicions. Talking to the Russian ambassador is not a crime, nor is discussing future policy goals during a transition. The Obama administration had no right at all to play god here and attempt to sandbag Flynn. They did so anyway, and in a way that would be seen as incredibly scandalous if a GOP administration had pulled this nonsense.

Further, given the content of the now declassified paragraph, one must ask why it was specifically classified that way in the first place. Why hide this paragraph? The answer is likely because Flynn was under surveillance at the time. It should also be noted that Comey did not end up doing everything “by the book,” as he later admitted to breaking protocol to send agents to interrogate Flynn.

The Last Refuge
Rag Tag Bunch of Conservative Misfits – Contact Info: [email protected]

About Us

The Conservative Tree House may be called a Last Refuge for each of us for different reasons. Whatever trail through the woods brought us here, we have shared the turmoil of storms as we have been finding our voices as individuals in this growing community

Perhaps you’ve had some truly shockingly cruel things said to you purely because you believe in limited government and fiscal conservatism. Perhaps you not only believe that we should be self-reliant and personally responsible, but also believe that when we are allowed to depend on ourselves, we are stronger, more successful, take greater pride in ourselves and our work, and are more likely to make positive contributions to society. And then we are happier people, or at least more likely to be happier.

Which lends to the following theory: Fear is at the core of liberalism, and love/trust is at the core of conservatism. Liberalism is about control. Conservatism is about self-empowerment.

Control is a reaction to fear. Think in terms or politics and society – the fear behind liberalism is the fear that someone might withhold things (opportunities, money, whatever) from me, fear that if you live your life in a way I dislike that it might affect my life, fear that if you get that job, there will be nothing left for me. Fear that if you make tons of money, it’s means there’s less money out there for me. So people who believe in liberal ideologies seek control as a means of trying to create guarantees and safeguards against those circumstances they fear. Liberals try to control the world and people to enable their comfort and happiness. Which, as we know, is an endless quest. Trying to control others does nothing in the way of making oneself happy. By extension, voting in this mindset so that government can try to control others will also – shocking – not lead to a happier, more comfortable life.

The conservative (and moderate, independent, but for the sake of expediency, the conservative), on the other hand, relies on himself to meet his own needs. And the trade off of being free to live his life as he wishes is also understanding that he has to make peace with how you live yours. By extension, aware that he wants to be able to hold onto this liberty and freedom forever, the conservative votes accordingly, so that everyone can remain free and in charge of his or her own life.

blahblahblahblahblah ..... for another half page.

History

The Last Refuge is a news and opinion blog that encourages comments on their posts. According to their about page: “Fear is at the core of liberalism, and love/trust is at the core of conservatism. Liberalism is about control. Conservatism is about self-empowerment.” This biased statement is reflected in the content of the website.

The Last Refuge does not indicate who owns the website and it appears to be funded through online advertising and donations.

Analysis / Bias

In review, The Last Refuge (Conservative Treehouse) reports news with a strong right wing bias with all stories favoring the right and denigrating the left. There is considerable use of loaded language in headlines such as this: Sketchy Business: Grassley Releases Original Ford Letter to Feinstein… Although this particular article is written well and utilizes sourcing, it ends in big bold letters LIES!, conveying strong support for Judge Kavanaugh without evidence. On the website they also list a blogroll of favorite/similar media sources that come straight from our right bias and questionable sources list. Here are a few examples: Gateway Pundit (questionable), Geller Report (questionable), Jihad Watch (questionable) and Truth Revolt (questionable).
