Justice Dept. scrutinizes White House-connected doctor linked to disputed coronavirus treatment

By Rosalind S. Helderman and Matt Zapotosky
April 30, 2020 at 11:06 p.m. EDT

Federal prosecutors are examining the communications of a New York family doctor who appears frequently on Fox News and has been in touch with the White House to tout an anti-malarial as a treatment for the novel coronavirus, according to people contacted as part of the inquiry.

The examination of Vladimir “Zev” Zelenko’s records began when an associate, conservative commentator Jerome Corsi, accidentally sent an email intended for Zelenko to another “Z” name in his address book — federal prosecutor Aaron Zelinsky, who as a member of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s team had spent months scrutinizing Corsi’s activities during the 2016 presidential election.

During episodes of his daily podcast this week and in a YouTube video he posted late Thursday in response to questions from The Washington Post, Corsi said that Zelinsky responded to the unexpected email by reaching out to Corsi’s lawyer and requesting all of Corsi’s communications with Zelenko.

Corsi said he and Zelenko are collaborating on a website designed to connect people with doctors. They have acted lawfully, Corsi added, but he plans to cooperate with the request and has handed over his communications.

Zelinsky is tasked now with investigating coronavirus-related crimes in the Maryland U.S. attorney’s office, as part of a directive from U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr to prioritize such cases. The department already has charged a medley of fraudsters for peddling fake cures, selling personal protective equipment they didn’t actually have or running more complicated Medicare reimbursement schemes, and officials say tips are coming in droves.

So people vote according to approval ratings? Most people do not even know them. Elections are decided by issues, and current news stories, and the economy.

New Flynn docs reveal possible source of the Flynn-Trump coup

Twitter warning!
Quote:
we need to hear from the DOJ official on the meaning of this note. However, the reference to the Logan Act is particularly chilling. It suggests the use of a flagrantly unconstitutional act to trap a top Trump official. https://t.co/vDRHNaaus6

It is unclear why they wanted Flynn out of the way. It might have been to protect the fraudulent FISA warrants on Carter Page [if Carter Page is ‘Cross Wind’], or it was simply part of a larger coup to take down the president and Flynn was an obstacle in his position heading up intel agencies.

Closing in on the truth.

David Brooks has a very good moving piece out in the NYT, it is really worth reading all of it and it encourages more unity and less division during this time in our history. I don't know if he is right, but I hope he is.

@bobsal u1553115,
I hate to be a downer, but, we have to remember how high Hillary was in the polls all up until very last when it came to the three swing states. We have got to hammer them hard (somehow through this) if we want to get Trump out of office. But it's really hard to concentrate on it right now, I don't think most of the public is even really thinking about the election.

His math is screwed up. 44% wins and 56% loses.

only if enough of that 56% shows up to vote - hopefully they keep up their immediate pre-Covid levels of voting

@revelette3,
She didn't work the swing states nearly enough. Hopefully the whole party learned a lesson from that. Based on primary turnout it does seem that they have been putting more energy there and were starting to see turnout results.

Hard to know how covid will figure into things. There are a few clues in the polls but in the meantime, the Democrats have to keep working the swing states/rust belt consistently and constantly.

@revelette3,
This can't be said often enough: Clinton did a crap job in 2016. She wasted way too much time in Florida, a state she could not hope to win--and she wasted Mr. Obama's considerable political capital in Florida. She ignored Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, all states Mr. Obama had won, and which three states put the fat boy in the White House. Indeed, I echo the sentiment that one hopes the Democrats have learned something.

@Setanta,
Well, one lesson I hope they learned is that they’ve got to get off their asses and vote in numbers overwhelming enough to offset all the cheating the Republicans will do (have done, and are doing).

Fortunately that's true about both sides. This time Trump has been one of the best campaigners for Democrats ever. I think he's truly fired up the base.

@ehBeth,
She really didn't and it was a shame because she certainly changed my mind about her after the convention. She changed my wife's mind, too and she was the treasurer of the county Republicans. She was not going to vote for Trump, but she wouldn't have voted for Hillary. But after the cinvention she listened to Hillary and she changed her mind. Hillary depended too much on others campaigning for her. The one thing Trump was right about was he was out personally campaigning.

@snood,
Amen to that--the Republican career politicians, the ones who understand how this works (unlike Plump) are pulling out all the stops to attempt to shut down the vote, including shutting down the Postal Service and attempting to block mail-in ballots. What a pack of sleaze-balls.
