As he huddled with advisers on Friday evening, President Donald Trump was still fuming over his sliding poll numbers and the onslaught of criticism he was facing for suggesting a day earlier that ingesting disinfectant might prove effective against coronavirus.

Within moments, the President was shouting -- not at the aides in the room, but into the phone -- at his campaign manager Brad Parscale, three people familiar with the matter told CNN. Shifting the blame away from himself, Trump berated Parscale for a recent spate of damaging poll numbers, even at one point threatening to sue Parscale. It's not clear how serious the President's threat of a lawsuit was.

The White House did not immediately respond to a CNN request for comment and the Trump campaign declined to comment.

Faced with an increasingly uphill battle for reelection and aides trying to steer him in new, sometimes conflicting directions, Trump has grown increasingly unnerved in the last week about his reelection prospects. Lashing out at Parscale was just the most recent manifestation of that anxiety...

Donald Trump does not want to be in charge of any of this. He wants to play president on TV. He doesn't want responsibility for governance in a time of crisis, and in every way he can, he's refusing to do that job, and lashing out at those who ask him to do it.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes.

How Trumpism Succeeded While The Establishment – Left AND Right – Failed in the Pandemic Response

Just that headline should cause a panic. Shocked
Quote:
Like Trumpism itself, it was an unforeseen phenomenon where common sense, life experience, and the ability to construct theories of human motivation would identify the truly insightful.

The latter point was especially key in the initial stage of the outbreak.

Vanity Fair has noted that President Trump’s earliest and most ardent supporters were the first to express public alarm over the coronavirus.

In January, Jack Posobiec – a reporter for One American News Network – reported that China was taking extraordinary measures to contain a virus that was causing death in the Wuhan province.

He called for a China travel ban on January 22. The same day, Sen. Tom Cotton sent a letter to Alex Azar, Secretary of HHS, urging immediate action “to prevent the virus from becoming a pandemic.”

On January 24, Posobiec and OANN would broadcast the leaked cell phone footage from inside China showing the crackdown.

Posobiec also appeared that day on the newly launched War Room: Pandemic podcast with my editor at The National Pulse, Raheem Kassam, to sound the alarm, calling the events in China “the biggest story in the world.”

Tucker Carlson also hit the Wuhan-virus early and often from his mega-platform on Fox.

The mainstream media ignored the elephant in the room until Trump himself issued the travel ban on January 31. Then the media interrupted impeachment coverage only to allow the president’s opponents to call him xenophobic.

Rather than occupy the political high ground always ceded to the first to sound an alarm, however, a vocal, powerful, entrenched establishment on the political right refused to admit that the virus was a big deal.

Pandemic was converted into anti-left polemic as soon as enough facts could be cherry picked to say, “Relax, this whole thing is a plot against you.”

The talking point that emerged was the virus was either just the flu, or no different than the Swine Flu outbreak during the Obama administration – and any attempt to cast it as something more was a sinister flanking maneuver against President Trump’s successes.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Accurate timeline, accurate facts.

@blatham,
Recalling what Lmbaugh said about Obama."I want to s him fail in the worst way. Im going to get in there and make sure he fails"

I sorta know how Limbaugh felt, cept do totally different reasons. Trump, unlike Obama, is a total incompetent buffoon, whose a danger to the union.

@coldjoint,
If it wasnt for obma, trump wouldnt have inherited an economy that was snding out higher returns than when Bush fucked it up.

We need some more of Obamas kind of "failure" before this guy kills us all.Of course, I dont expect that you have any understanding of how Fucked up this country had become PRE COVID. Now, because of Trumps self adoration and his incompetence we are on the verge of another Depression as well as the 6th extinction. Just cause "He doesnt take responsibility for anything"
Thats not very presidential is it.??
And, of course, theres Oleaginous Pence.

INCONCEIVABLE!!

I'd forgotten that. But it was the broad strategy of Republicans - as seen in the secret meeting set up by Ed Meese on inauguration day to strategize how to thwart Obama and by McConnell's admission that the entire goal they had was to ensure Obama was a one term president. Nothing about governance. All about power and power only.

Republican Senate candidate argues that Trump told us to inject disinfectant to “give hope”
April 28, 2020

https://occupydemocrats.com/2020/04/28/republican-senate-candidate-argues-that-trump-told-us-to-inject-disinfectant-to-give-hope/

<snip>

Messner laughably claimed that President Trump is “doing a great job through this crisis” before diving facefirst into full-on disinfectant injection apologia.

“I think that you know, as we know, President Trump sometimes, you know, talks in aspirational ways that you know, that… To give hope, perhaps? And that’s who he is. And I think that all of us can—as consumers of that information—and we can get educated and understand what exactly he’s talking about,” rambled Messner.

“And I don’t think it’s a good idea that in the midst of this crisis that, you know, the kind of shots that people are taking at the president is just not helpful. I think overall he’s done a really, really good job with this,” fawned Messner.

A spokesperson for the New Hampshire Democratic Party, Josh Marcus-Blank, slammed Messner on Twitter for refusing to break ranks with Trump even when it comes to “spreading blatant disinformation that could kill people.”

Trump: "I am going to sue that imposter John Barron", Barron "I will counter sue".
To give this breaking story context please get caught up on Trump's threat to sue Brad Parscale, his campaign manager.

If you need to be reminded who John Barron is, this will help:

Trump Covid 19 Debacle Devolves into Internecine Legal Battle

A stunned White House Press Corps listened in silence as President Trump held a 20 minute impromptu unscheduled press "briefing" that left one spectator musing "was that an example of a Neo-Dada schizophrenic performance art work or a self inflicted metaphysical pie fight?".

Trump initiated the briefing by announcing that he had not been the one to muse about ingesting toxic disinfectants to cure Covid 19 infections, "wasn't me, I wasn't here, it was that bastard John Barron who many of you old timers know and have talked with from time to time. He lured me into the upstairs bedroom with an order of Big Macs, Fries and ice cream, locked me in and came down and did the press conference."

As reporters watch with mouths gapping wide open he explained that his long time friend, prankster buddy and nemesis had gotten tired of not getting out and grabbing stuff and sabotaged the President's press briefing in an effort to undermine the President's re election campaign.

"I can't believe you guys fell for it, because even though he is very good looking he can't really compare with me. To be honest I have used him for some events to fill in for me when I need to take a day off but when he isn't filling in for me he has to stay around in the back bedroom and he's had enough of this White House gig."

Trump announced that he had retained counsel to sue Barron for $ 50,000,000 for breach of contract as he had made the alter ego persona sign a 22 page contract in 2016 when he had him accompany him to the White House.

Three different reporters reported that they had received phone calls shortly after the briefing from John Barron announcing that he was going to counter sue Trump adding "I can't wait until we get him before a camera during the depositions, this guy is the worst witness in the history of the world. Before I am done with him I will own everything he owns."

Powell: Unsealed FBI Handwritten Notes And Emails Reveal Agents Plotted Perjury Trap On Flynn

Flynn is going to be exonerated and might send some FBI to jail.
Quote:
“What is especially terrifying is that without the integrity of Attorney General Bill Barr and U.S. Attorney Jensen, we still would not have this clear exculpatory information as Mr. Van Grack and the prosecutors have opposed every request we have made,” said Powell.

It appears, based on the notes and emails that the Department of Justice was determined at the time to prosecute Flynn, regardless of what they found, Powell said.
