@Walter Hinteler,
Yes. It's not just Israel where democracy is under very real threat
Quote:
...That extreme gerrymander, drawn in 2011, is the reason Wisconsin Republicans hold nearly two-thirds of the seats in the State Assembly despite winning less than half of the votes statewide. Having fought a fierce battle to make theirs a one-party state — first by dismantling institutions of the opposition with attacks on unions and the university system, then by changing the rules of the game to keep Democrats from winning power — Wisconsin Republicans will do anything to protect their hold on the reins, especially when that power has national implications. Wisconsin is a tipping point state in the upcoming presidential election, and a party that controls the rules of the game is one that can put its thumb on the scale for its allies.

What’s true of Republicans in Wisconsin is true of Republicans nationwide. There is no part of the Republican Party — not its president in the White House, not its leadership in Congress, not its conservative allies on the Supreme Court, not its interest groups or its affiliated media — that has an interest in or commitment to a fair, equal and expansive democracy....

The father is trying to kill the postal system so he can preempt voting by mail and ensure his re-election.
The son’s big sporting pastime is killing large wild animals, some endangered.
The daughter just ghoulishly got a patent for caskets - during a pandemic.

If this whole family got swallowed up in a sinkhole, the world would be better for it.

@blatham,
You're right, but there is a remedy, it just will take time and a lot of powerful Republicans in the Senate dying or getting replaced to fix it. After all, they didn't get this powerful overnight and will take just as long and just as committed to getting them out of power. Once demographics and patience and time have taken its course, we can reform the courts in which everything else hangs. At least I think along similar lines in my more optimistic moments.

This was why it is was so important in 2016 to put the progressive war to the side and consider the make-up of the then-Supreme Court. But they chose not to do that and this is the result.

You are really saying if the vote is by mail the Democrats can cheat to get him out of office. You know in a regular election with regular voting at polls you do not have a chance. And you are the people that bitch about corruption?

Is he breaking any laws? Does not look like it. It is simply none of your business what he does.

Again, is she breaking any laws?

Why disguise your hate with a sinkhole? You could just wish them dead. Blatham does it all the time. Why would Americans elect a party that runs on hate and crisis and confusion? Plus has a record of putting citizens behind illegals and supports sanctuary cities that harbor rapists and killers that need to be deported or jailed?

Why is a vote by mail considered to be possible to cheat? And why by just one party?

This is a serious question, not just addressed to coldjoint, since the only objection here in Germany is that the local authorities have to install more election bords (instead of originally one, we nowadays have five for the votes by mail) and thus get more poll workers.

Do you believe that the USPS is vital and integral to American small business and to average Americans?

The best way to practice voter suppression against Plump's supporters would be to require all voters to fill in a paper ballot. That would immediately disqualify about 25% of Plump supporters.

The precious NYT said it (vote by mail) was open to massive fraud in 2012, I posted the story earlier. It is one party because that party cannot win without cheating. That party would be the Democrats.

Five states currently conduct all elections entirely by mail: Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington and Utah.

• Utah is a Republican bastion,
• Colorado, which has 3.5 million registered voters, has been a vote-by-mail state since 2014.

Judd Choate, the director of elections in the Colorado Department of State wrote:
There’s just very little evidence that there is more than a handful of fraudulent (vote-by-mail) cases across the country in a given election cycle,

Trump, while criticizing mail voting, recently acknowledged that in March he voted absentee by mail in his adopted home state of Florida. In the 2018 midterm elections, Mr. Trump voted absentee by mail from New York.

Anthony Fauci admits earlier Covid-19 mitigation efforts would have saved more American lives
Source: CNN

Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday that calls to implement life-saving social distancing measures faced "a lot of pushback" early in the US coronavirus outbreak and that the country is now looking for ways to more effectively respond to the virus should it rebound in the fall.

"I mean, obviously, you could logically say that if you had a process that was ongoing and you started mitigation earlier, you could have saved lives," Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" when asked if social distancing and stay-at-home measures could have prevented deaths had they been put in place in February, instead of mid-March.

"Obviously, no one is going to deny that. But what goes into those decisions is complicated," added Fauci, who is a key member of the Trump administration's coronavirus task force. "But you're right, I mean, obviously, if we had right from the very beginning shut everything down, it may have been a little bit different. But there was a lot of pushback about shutting things down back then."

The comments from Fauci come a day after a report from The New York Times detailed the Trump administration's missteps in the early days of the pandemic and how President Donald Trump ignored his advisers' warnings of the potentially deadly disease.
