Because people took action while Trump was lying and pandering to his base for poll number protection.

Those people were not Democrats. I just posted an article with a timeline of their inaction.

To everyone in NYC but ESPECIALLY healthy people & people under 40 (bc from what I’m observing that’s who needs to hear this again):

PLEASE stop crowding bars, restaurants, and public spaces right now. Eat your meals at home.

If you are healthy, you could be spreading COVID.

We just can't win. This is a dress rehearsal for the kind of government control she wants. Tell older people ( the people in real danger) to avoid crowds and stay inside and give Americans permission to live. For Christ sake she is just stoking a manufactured panic.

@coldjoint,
Hey, joint,it's a free country.If you feel like ignoring good medical advice, you're free to hang out in big crowds if you can find any, never wash your hands, you know what they recommend. Resist anything you can pretend is really an incursion of big government. We'll be sure to put flowers on your grave. From a distance.

@coldjoint,
So what's your point? They were older and had health problems, but they were living. Coronavirus killed them, robbing them of quite possibly years of life. And you seem heartlessly cool with that. Looks like we've got at least two sociopaths posting here.

You and who else? Reality happens it does not need you, or me, to agree or disagree with it.

If it were up to you they'd never have figured out how to eradicate smallpox, because after all reality happens so why try to do anything about it, right?

Why would you say that? What reasoning bought you to that conclusion? You need to back up the crap you spew.

It certainly is. I backed up what I said with facts about the ages of the dead. You just virtue signal. We have the entire MSM doing that already.

@MontereyJack,
Older Americans are more worried about coronavirus — unless they’re Republican
Quote:
[...]
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has warned those 60 and older and those with medical conditions to be particularly wary of its spread, given the higher mortality rates associated with those factors.
[...]
Earlier this week, Quinnipiac University released polling showing that older Americans are, in fact, more likely to express concern about they or someone they know being infected with the virus. Sixty-two percent of those age 65 and older expressed at least come concern about that happening compared to only 47 percent of those under age 35. Older respondents were also about nine points more likely to express concern about their daily lives being disrupted.
[...]
Digging into the Quinnipiac data a little further, we see that this makes a difference. Republicans are broadly less likely to express concern about being infected with coronavirus. But while older Democrats are far more concerned about it than younger Democrats, older Republicans are about as blasé about the prospect as are younger Republicans.
[...]
Fox News, of course, is home to a number of hosts who’ve dismissed the threat posed by the coronavirus, framing the sense of urgency conveyed on other networks as being about Trump’s presidency rather than the public health. If that is the message that half of older Republicans are hearing, it’s not really a surprise that they are less concerned about the virus.

Hopefully, the events of the last few days are shifting any lackadaisical attitudes of older Americans. After all, health experts aren’t advising retirees to curtail their social activity to save the lives of younger people. They’re offering that advice so that older Americans don’t put their own lives at risk.

@coldjoint,
yada yada virtue signaling blah blah blah. The point you have been making is that it is only the aged with health problems wo are dying, reality happens, no big deal, why do anything about it.. "Let them die then, and decrease the surplus population"---Ebenezer Scrooge./ That's not the way a moral civil society works.
