As a thought experiment, let's begin with the premise, no matter how unlikely, that the Trump administration is actually being truthful about their motivations for and deliberations on the attack.
How could they now, after hundreds of lies documented most every week for three plus years, expect to be believed?
Answer: they don't expect it. They don't think that is important, for the most part. They are working from the proposition (with some historical justification) that a mere presentation of military manliness will by itself draw in followers who are easily swayed by such a presentation of reality.
And they understand that the press/news media will inevitably rivet itself to the high drama of war with its typical tropes of heroes and villains, good and evil, battles of men with beautiful weapons and brilliant tacticians, etc.
All in all, it's quite a vomit-fest.
@blatham,
No one cares what you do or don't believe.
@oralloy,
No one cares what
you do or don't believe.
However, "caring" about other people's beliefs is not the operative function of a message board like this. Information can be assessed and shared whether anyone cares or not!
@blatham,
Agreed completely, with the American public lapping it up with no thought to his lies or a remembrance of the lies told which led to the Iraq invasion in the first place which started everything we are experiencing now, if not directly, indirectly.

I'm not running around proclaiming that I don't believe someone.

@rcallimachi wrote:The official says that following the attack on an Iraqi base which killed an American contractor circa Dec. 27, Trump was presented a menu of options for how to retaliate. Killing Suleimani was the "far out option".
Trump chose a more moderate option which involved the Dec. 29 strikes on the positions of an Iranian-backed militia. Then came the protest at the gates of the US embassy in Baghdad.
It was after the embassy protests that the president, according to one US official, chose the Suleimani option.
Maybe next time Iran (or North Korea) will think twice before escalating against America while Mr.Trump is in charge. He's clearly not going to put up with their nonsense.
@oralloy,
You said no one cares, I beg to differ as witnessed by the many postings on his thread, yourself included as poster # 6,944,496.
@revelette3,
I defy you to present any sort of evidence that I care what blatham does or doesn't believe.
@oralloy,
Been there and done that. You wouldn't be here posting here in this thread if you didn't.
@revelette3,
That is incorrect. My posting in this thread is not evidence that I care what blatham does or doesn't believe.
@blatham,
Sounds logical to me also.
@BillW,
It shows that Mr. Trump is a great leader who will stand up to the bad guys.
@coldjoint,
Yeah, that's what I said. You're "no one"!
@coldjoint,

No one cares, no one replies!
