ADL falsifies hate crime statistics to claim “right-wing extremists” are biggest threat

Greenblatt’s ADL has become notorious for undermining its mission by putting out fake hate crime statistics. And these fake statistics were as surreally egregious as they were confusing.

The executive summary of the ADL’s annual report claimed that, “2018 was a particularly active year for right-wing extremist murders: Every single extremist killing — from Pittsburgh to Parkland — had a link to right-wing extremism.” This false claim was quickly picked up and repeated by the media.

Typically, the ADL report contradicts itself when it later claims that, “Almost all of the 2018 extremist-related murders were committed by right-wing extremists.”

Is it “every” or “almost all”?

The White House attacked acting ambassador to Ukraine Bill Taylor on Tuesday after he gave a shocking testimony detailing President Donald Trump’s Ukraine scheme.

“President Trump has done nothing wrong — this is a coordinated smear campaign from far-left lawmakers and radical unelected bureaucrats waging war on the Constitution,” White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement, insisting once more that “there was no quid pro quo.”

According to a CBS News report Tuesday, McConnell denied speaking with Trump about the July call with Zelensky — which showed efforts by the President to pressure the Ukrainian government into manufacturing false allegations against Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden and his son Hunter — and declaring it “innocent.”

When asked by CBS News Tuesday whether Trump lied about the supposed discussion, McConnell said “you’d have to ask him” and that he doesn’t “recall any conversations with the President about that phone call.”

CBS News noted that McConnell’s response to the July call contradicts what Trump told reporters earlier this month. A White House transcript of a Trump pool spray on Oct. 3 showed that the President pointed to McConnell’s statement in response to the White House-released memo of the call. In his remarks, Trump claimed that McConnell told him that it was “the most innocent phone call that I’ve read.”

President Donald Trump claimed earlier this month that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told him that his phone call with the Ukrainian president was “the most innocent phone call that I’ve ever read.”

But McConnell said Tuesday he’s never had a conversation about the phone call with the president.

“We’ve not had any conversations on that subject,” McConnell told reporters about the transcript of the call between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump.

This one will likely fizzle out as well.

The 21 Republicans on the House Foreign Affairs Committee sent a letter to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) on Tuesday requesting access to transcripts of the depositions and interviews conducted during the impeachment inquiry.

Led by Rep. Michael McCaul (Tex.), the top Republican on the foreign affairs panel, the lawmakers called it “outrageous and unjustifiable” of Schiff to deny them “those basic documents, which are critical to our ability to meaningfully prepare for and participate in this investigation.”

“We require the same access to the same documents in the same format, as is enjoyed by you and your staff. . . . I urge you to remedy this procedural injustice immediately, so that I am not forced to pursue public efforts to correct it, including by seeking a privileged vote on the House Floor,” the lawmakers wrote.
