Trump says a new executive order could strip colleges of funding if they don’t 'support free speech’
Quote:
A new executive order from the White House will aim to make federal research funding for colleges and universities contingent on their support for “free speech,” President Trump said Saturday.

The announcement, during Trump’s address to the conservative conference CPAC, appeared to target complaints by some university critics that institutions of higher education stifle right-wing viewpoints.

“If they want our dollars, and we give it to them by the billions, they’ve got to allow people like Hayden and many great young people, and old people, to speak,” Trump said, bringing onstage a young conservative, Hayden Williams, who was physically attacked last month while tabling for a conservative organization at the University of California at Berkeley.

The executive order, Trump said, would “require colleges to support free speech if they want federal research” money. Spokespeople for the White House didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

@coldjoint,
Oh wow. Yes. That does sound good.

I wonder if we can force colleges and universities to crack down on antisemitism too.

And executive orders are nice, but we should start pushing to have things like this enacted into law.

@MontereyJack,
Keep in mind that, since the left routinely proclaims that the truth is a lie, the tally of Trump's supposed lies is likely to be greatly inflated.

And, considering the way the left actively whitewashes Obama's endless pile of lies, it is quite possible that Obama lied even more than Trump does.

@oralloy,
Neither of those statements is true. You sound as if you've never actally looked at any of the multiple factchecks tht chronicle trunp's lies and nistruths withehis own words and the cod hard facts that disagree with him. googlr "trump fact check" and start reading. If you think Obama told more than trump's current 7500-plus, I invite you yo start listing them. reliable sources only. verifiable statistics only, tell me when you reach 7000.

Yes they are. The left regularly proclaims that the truth is a lie.

The left also has been caught whitewashing Obama's lies. Your own attempts to justify Obama's "I only forced people off from substandard health insurance" is an example of this whitewashing.

Well, I haven't.

I don't care if Trump lies. I just note that the claims regarding his supposed lies, are themselves not credible.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/03/01/politics/michael-flynn-witness-lobbying-partner/index.html

Quote:
President Donald Trump's former national security adviser and Russia investigation cooperator Michael Flynn will be a "principal witness" in the upcoming trial of his former lobbying partner -- and his statements to special counsel Robert Mueller will matter in that case too, according to court submissions on Friday.

The flood of court requests from the lobbyist Bijan Kian made clear how much of the case will focus on Flynn. Kian's defense team wants every document it can get about the former Trump administration official as they prepare for trial.

Kian's legal team wants "all statements, transcripts, notes, records and memoranda" from federal prosecutors that reflate to anything Flynn said to "any agent, employee, representative or elected official" of the US government.

That includes investigators' memoranda of interviews Flynn gave to Mueller's legal team as they investigated the election and the Trump political operation.

Those notes -- especially about Flynn lying to Vice President Mike Pence and others in the early days of the Trump administration about his contact with Russia regarding sanctions -- could help Kian's lawyers cut into his credibility at trial, Kian's lawyers wrote. They've asked for the Mueller memos on Flynn but the Justice Department won't turn them over as potentially exculpatory material for Kian, the defense team wrote.

The court submissions on Friday also reveal just how long ago Flynn started helping the prosecutors with the Kian case. Prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia sought an interview and grand jury testimony from Flynn as early as June 2018, about six months after Mueller secured his guilty plea.

Quote:
When Flynn admitted to lying to federal investigators about his contact with the Russian ambassador as part of the special counsel probe into 2016 election interference, he also admitted to lying to the Department of Justice about the work he did with Kian in their consulting company. Flynn agreed to cooperate with Mueller's team and other prosecutors in December 2017.

He has given them "substantial assistance" in criminal investigations, prosecutors have said. He has not yet been sentenced and continues to help prosecutors.

all those "Christian" colleges

How many are there? I bet you have no idea. Remember Christianity is the religion of freedom. It fits nicely with our Constitution. And Christian counties in Europe are free, or were. Christianity never stood in the way of human rights. How is Islam doing in that department?
