No. It's a witch hunt to persecute people who disagree with Democrats.

Oh well.

If the Democrats were concerned about Russian meddling they shouldn't have hijacked the issue and transformed it into a witch hunt against people who disagree with them.

It's their own fault that nothing is being done about foreign interference in our elections.

MontereyJack wrote:
It's justice, never a witch hunt. You're wrong.
No, when you convict innocent people of imaginary crimes, that is not justice.

MontereyJack wrote:
Justice, never a witch hunt.
Abusing the law to harm people who disagree with you is not justice.

That is incorrect. All of my facts are correct, just as they usually are.

@oralloy,
Reiterating your falsehooods doesn't make them true the second third or fourth or fifth time or whatever number of repititions you're up to now. You're wrong oin all counts. Find a new hobby horse to ride.

Not at all. I understand the differences just fine.

This is a fact: The sky is blue.

This is a fact: Grass is green.

This is an opinion: I think it is great that the sky is blue and grass is green.

This is an opinion: I think it is terrible that the sky is blue and grass is green.

@oralloy,
That you think it's a witch hunt is merely an opinion. That you think they're innocent is merely an opinion. You regularly confuse your opinion with fact. Do stop your self-preening.

That is incorrect. That "abusing the law to harm people who disagree with you" is a witch hunt is a fact.

MontereyJack wrote:

That is incorrect. That "an innocent person is innocent" is a fact.

MontereyJack wrote:

No I don't.

MontereyJack wrote:

I'm not ashamed of the fact that I'm correct. Why should I be?

By the way, had the facts that I stated actually been opinions, you would have been wrong to say they were incorrect, as opinions cannot be incorrect.

So you're saying that if your opinion is that the sky is not blue the sky really is not blue. You're dealing in nonsense here. That may in fact be your opionion, but that doesb't make it true. And your mere repetition of opinion, which is what you are doing, does not make that opinion true. It is probably true that it is in fact your opinion but that is no guarantee that it it=s true. In fact, if it is your opinion, it usually is not true.

@MontereyJack,
If we use Oralloy's logic, then the statement:

In my opinion Oralloy is an idiot.

Would be true.

(now, this statement is true, because my opinion IS in fact my opinion, but that says nothing to the point of whether or not Oralloy really is an idiot; the substance of my opinion is not automatically factual)

Though I think we can probably say that in this case the preponderance of evidence suggests your opinion is in fact true.

That is incorrect. Opinions are neither true nor untrue. They are opinions.

The question of whether I am an idiot or not, however, is a factual matter. As such, a claim that I am an idiot can be (and is) incorrect.

MontereyJack wrote:

No. The question of whether the sky is blue or not is an issue of fact, not of opinion.

MontereyJack wrote:

I'm just pointing out facts. I cannot help that leftists really really don't like facts.

MontereyJack wrote:

It wouldn't be an opinion because "whether the sky is blue or not" is an issue of fact.

MontereyJack wrote:

That is incorrect. I am stating facts.

MontereyJack wrote:
does not make that opinion true.
That's the really great thing about facts. They are naturally true of their own accord. There is no need for me to "make" them true.

MontereyJack wrote:

Opinions are never true or false. They are opinions.

Things here appear to have heated up a bit since early yesterday. A lot of finely made distinctions used to justify weak arguments on both sides. Also quite a few presumptions to actually know the motives and intentions of people who have been dead for over fifty years in defenses against the obvious implications of things they actually wrote.

Abortion remains a hot issue involving difficult moral issues and sometimes rather tortured defenses. Same goes for a related issue, eugenics. The rhetoric flies by fast on both, and several here appear to be taking contradictory stands on one or the other in efforts to discredit other posters.

Efforts to discredit one's interlocutor are common enough here, and most of us do it to some degree, in often disguised manners. However that is not a particularly useful way to find the truth about anything.

A racist post by someone who should know better. That goes for you and the WP. It's purpose is to upset people and divide people. Plus the people that voted for Trump have their reasons and if that is one of them that is just tough ****.

That the WP has a hard on for Trump and Christianity could not be more clear. It is hate plain and simple. It is what the Democrats, and other fascists around the world, thrive on, and articles like this prove it.

I don't think that is unique to either side in these discussions.

The "left" and the "right" are composed of individual people who vary a good deal from one to the other, and, while I believe there are characteristic errors and excesses on both sides, variations among the individuals in both groups remain the central issue.

I didn't consider the report about a FOX-poll to be racist. Sorry.

Again I apologize: Wilhelm II, German Emperor, and King of Prussia was the last one claiming to have God's mandate. That ended 100 years ago.
But many Germans tried to get rid of such a lot earlier - quite a few had to emigrate later, to the USA for instance, where state and religion were (sic!) separated.
