@gungasnake,
Why, yes, yes I did!

I found Stacy Abrams to be quite articulate and a welcome relief after that twaddle the yellow haired thing spewed for what seemed an eternity.

I think this might be what's referenced.

Quote:
The feel-good moment of the 2019 State of the Union address occured when the president recognised the record number of women serving in the US Congress, prompting the white-clad legislators to stand and cheer in an unscripted show of exuberance.

It probably wasn't lost on the president, however, that most of those cheering were Democrats - and that they won their recent elections by running against his policies.

They - along with most other Democrats - were decidedly not cheering for the rest of the president's speech. They were stone-faced as the president spoke about immigration. They sat on their hands as he urged Congress to pass new anti-abortion legislation. There were audible groans when Mr Trump warned that "ridiculous partisan investigations" of his administration might threaten the "economic miracle" in the US.

Dems are about where Nazis were in the 1920s, i.e. before Nazism caught on.....

I mean, could anybody believe that smirking POS Schumer or the wankerettes in the white uniforms??

I mean, that's a good question. What's the deal with the white jackets? They wouldn't let them wear their Klan robes inside the capitol bldg so they opted for white yuppie attire??

Even Pelosi gave her colleagues the nudge to get up and clap.

Oh, so it wasn't spontaneous. Just a matter of decorum. Check.

I'd call it a complete lack of decorum, but you make **** up as you go, so yeah, whatever floats your boat, kid.

@MontereyJack,
I have the guy on ignore but your post led me to check what he'd written.

I did a bunch of archaeology courses as well and considered making that my career but here in the Pacific North West, digging conditions are commonly pretty damned ugly, so I moved into education.

The amazing thing here is how the guy could be so misinformed and yet certain he's got hold of the truth. I suppose it is just another reminder that reasoning is far down the list of human attributes.

@izzythepush,
Definitely some of both.

Every few years, I do a re-read of Politics and the English Language. Surely one of the finest essays I've ever bumped into.

I have come to absolutely detest the whole "super hero" genre in film. If I could go back in time and murder everyone responsible I'd consider it.

Still, there are cases where I will be sorely tempted to fantasize some typical super hero trope. For example...

Seeing this photo, I immediately imagined that Pelosi (with her hidden super strength) would grasp Trump's hand and squeeze until he fell to the floor crying and pleading for her to stop.

@blatham,
I'm reading the Decameron, only wish I could say the same. I keep being told that the protagonists are very witty but I've not seen any of it. Many of the stories work fine in terms of setting up the conflict but when it comes to the resolution, usually because somebody is very "witty," it just falls flat.

I'm going to persevere though, it's one tome I want to get under my belt.

You've got the wrong sort of superheroes that's all.
