@hightor,
Quote:Yup. It was part of the Third Way at the time. The deal benefited international corporations and domestic consumers. Succeeding administrations irresponsibly failed to address inadvertent and unforeseen consequences to US laborers. Meanwhile USAmericans enjoyed their stupid big screen TVs. I don't see any of this as evidence of creeping socialism, however.
Aren't you happy Trump renegotiated the deal?
Quote:Don't tell me what "I seem to think". Laws and regulations protect some freedoms and restrict others. "Freedom" comes in various shapes and forms and is employed and enjoyed in many different ways.
I would rather side with freedom and liberty instead of increased laws and regulations. I don't think the Founder Fathers would agree with your take on Freedom.
Quote:Do you really think I've never read that quote? I don't consider demands for clean air and water an attempt to "purchase a little temporary Safety".
I question all people who think we need ever increasing laws and regulations if they have read that quote. It seems not many people learn from it.
Quote:Then stop harming the people's access to the common good for the sake of profits and social control.
Wow, could you be any more vague? "Common good"? Profits were one of the reasons for the War of Independence, and the FF were against "social control". It's the leftists who are hell bent on social control.
Quote:Look, media events like this pop up all the time now when everyone has video recording devices.
True, but you would think the media would do some background on the event, instead they report everything from a pro-leftist point of view. Look at those evil straight white kids...
Quote:I think it's a mistake to get sucked into them.
Of course it is, but the left can't help themselves with reporting like this. Did you hear the other day that over 1000 opinion reporters were fired from different news outlets?
Quote:The whole thing was ugly, a perfect representation of contemporary USAmerican society, especially with the multiple ideological interpretations.
It was only a perfect representation of how the leftist media reports on stories when it's a white male. All evil all the time. Even when it's proven that the kid did nothing wrong, the left was still calling for his death.
Quote:As far as political effectiveness goes the situation hardly deserved the coverage it got. It was simply exploited for each side's purposes.
Wrong again, it was exploited by the left against a bunch of high school kids who were minding their own business. The media led the story with the "attack on an elder Native American", and didn't even mention the black racists until they had no choice due to other video footage showing the harassment of the high school kids. It was SOP for the leftist media and they didn't even say sorry for smearing the kids. Instead they ran interviews with the elder and allowed him to lie more. I haven't seen anyone talking about his lack of service in Vietnam.
