Workers are ready for their cut of this booming economy

First, for the first time in years, workers are telling us it is time for them to get their fair share of the economic growth they are helping to produce.

About time. The top 1% has been taking a bigger and bigger cut of the total wealth of the country since the early 80s.

with no memory of Merrick Garland

Garland got the same treatment recommended by the genius Joe Biden in 1992 for a Bush nominee. There is nothing to remember unless you think Republicans cannot play the same games Democrats can. If that is what you think or that Garland has anything to do with this. your are spitting into the wind.

Your chart shows a significant rise in that income in Obama's first term. Anything from 2012 on?

@coldjoint,
Significant rise from the early 80s on. And aren't you fussy about insisting on more charts, you don't post squat about charts unless it's right off a right wing website.

not a Sullivan fan
but he's correct (I think) about a couple of things

Quote:
Everyone Lost at the Ford-Kavanaugh Hearings
By Andrew Sullivan

his conclusion

Quote:
And for what it’s worth, I’m not sure we have any idea how the politics of this will play out. Both political parties may be pursuing pyrrhic victories. If the GOP manages to muscle Kavanaugh onto the court, it may galvanize the Democratic base to such an extent it will create a blue tsunami in November. It could poison the Republican brand for women even more than it is already.

But if this nomination falters, Kavanaugh will be a clarion call for Republicans to turn out. It could help them in November. And if Trump nominates Amy Coney Barrett as a replacement in the lame duck session of the Senate, another attempt at character assassination will be a very risky option for the Democrats, as would be attacks on Barrett’s religious faith.

So on the substance of the Court’s future, it seems to me that the Democrats have ensured this past week that if Kavanaugh is confirmed, they will have created an embittered foe in the Thomas mold. And if they end up with Barrett, they will have have someone on the Court more certain to strike down Roe than Kavanaugh.

@ehBeth,
Quote the cut:
Quote:
He [Kvanaugh] was sweaty and flushed and overwhelmed and pissed off, the way no woman gets to be ever. He was defensive and evasive and arrogant and chippy, the way no person of color gets to be. And he’s still headed for a plum lifetime position, thanks to a weaponized troop of grandstanding cretins in the GOP with no memory of Merrick Garland and no concern whatsoever for anyone outside of their tight little demographic of chuckling good old boys.

That's just it. Thurdsay night I came on here expecting to see all the prepared posts extolling Kavanaugh's "triumphat" answer to Dr. Ford. Nothing. A little bit about Trump tweeting that he was happy with Kavanaugh's performance, but other than, nothing on here. Then later in the day, when the first shift came on duty in the internet troll company in St. Petersburg, Russia, we saw all the crap about how "great" Kavanaugh supposedly was.

Fact is, Kavanaugh was a flop. Dr. Ford's testimony resonated with a large percentage of women, Kavanaugh's testimony resonated with a few talking heads whose job it is to spin for Trump. That's why, the next day, even Trump had to yield and support an FBI investigation. Kavanaugh lost the contest with Ford, big time, and he almost certainly will withdraw as the FBI goes forward with its investigation.

Which sites are those and what does that have to do with the fact that same one percent made huge profits under Obama. They outperformed everyone, and that is a fact.

Why don't you prove any part of that? I know why you can't and wont. I doubt if you are even stupid enough to buy the crap you post.

Kavanaugh was hardly a flop. In fact he convinced many women of his innocence and is of the charts with men who also believe him. This fiasco could keep the House in Republican hands. And you know it. Decent people scare the Hell out of you.

Anti-Trump Latino Dem makes stunning reversal after Democrats’ performance at Kavanaugh hearing

I am a college-educated, suburban, first-generation Latino immigrant. I voted for President Obama in 2008 and 2012. I find President Trump to lack the basic moral character that we should expect in our political leaders and did not consider, even for a moment, voting for him in 2016. After watching how Senate Democrats and the media handled the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, however, I will be voting Republican in 2018 and for Trump in 2020.

Kind of a walkaway moment after seeing what most of America saw. I applaud his honesty. An unusual trait for a Democrat.

Are you blind? The chart shows the 1% steadily increasing share since Reagan took office, Obama, Bushes and everyone else included.

Your title says it all. "Class" is just another way to stigmatize someone, it is no different than the racism crap we hear daily. Interesting that there is always a group to hate not just the individual.

Yeah, Kavanaugh was such a hit that the next day even Trump claimed he was supporting an FBI investigation.

Kavanaugh flopped. He spit the bit. Failed. Plummeted. Screwed up. Blundered. Fizzled. That's why the FBI is investigating this week. That's also why Kavanaugh will withdraw. If Michael Avenatti can blow his story full of holes, and he did, imagine what an FBI investigation will do.

Which they would not be able to do if Kavanaugh had triumphantly rebutted Prof. Ford's testimony like the Republicans claimed he did. Professor Ford's testimony had put the whole country in that room and had everyone experience, in a small but potent way, the terror she felt.

Avenatti's testimony swayed nobody, despite the claims of the professional spinmeisters.

Bullshit. She was groomed by lawyers for over a week. Calculated lies are still lies. And now it has been shown she has connections to the CIA which, if you did not know, has many never-Trumpers groomed by Brennan.
