@jbendery
In sum, Flake is now suggesting he won't vote to confirm Kavanaugh without a one-week FBI probe into Dr. Ford's allegations. That gives nice cover to other hold-outs, Collins and Murkowski.

Up to McConnell to grant that week of delay, which he def doesn't want to do.

Amid confusion, Grassley abruptly adjourns the meeting, citing a two hour rule.

The gavel went down and Feinstein said: “What?”

“This is all a gentlemen’s and women’s agreement,” Grassley responds before the mics are switched off.

Trump has also just commented on Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony.

“I thought her testimony was very compelling, and she looks like a very fine woman to me,” Trump told reporters.

“Brett’s testimony was, likewise, really something that I hadn’t seen before.”

Open mics captured Grassley, Feinstein & Leahy bickering over what happened in the Judiciary Cmte. Kavanaugh has advanced to the floor of the Senate but there's a "gentlemen and women's agreement" to delay floor vote for a week so FBI can probe. McConnell is not bound by the deal

___________

And now, South Carolina Republican, Lindsey Graham: “Somebody has got to explain this to Trump, so I guess that’ll be my job.”

@ehBeth,
CNN on their website had a bit where they were asking where Jeff Flake was before all the commotion was happening after senators gave their speeches or whatever. Apparently Flake and Coons and some other democrats were holed up in a side room for a time.

Trump just now called Ford a very credible witness, compelling. Graham came out like a tamed lion and said "somebody 's got to explain this to Trump, guess that will be my job. "

I don't know have clue now how all this is going to go down.

edit:
We must be watching the same snips of news. I am just slow at thinking and getting it down.

I got to be gone a good deal this afternoon, wonder if anything will happen? It being a Friday, usually nothing happens, but who knows.

on the upside for #45, no one's thinking about Mueller right now.

the meeting with Rosenstein was bumped to next week so it wouldn't run into Kavanaugh hearing - if the vote is postponed, does that meeting move again as well?

President Trump on Friday signed a massive spending package into law that averts a government shutdown and increases next year’s funding for the military and health and education programs.

The measure requires lawmakers to revisit other contentious measures in just two months, including whether to devote billions of dollars toward the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The new law avoids a partial government shutdown because it extends money for the Pentagon and health and education programs through Sept. 30, 2019, and a number of other programs through Dec. 7.

Funding for those programs was scheduled to expire on Sunday at midnight.

This spending package reflects the compromise Republican leaders sought with the White House that postpones a fight over Trump’s demand for a border wall until after the Nov. 6 midterm elections.

@ehBeth,
Well the Kavanaugh matter and hearings do distract. I think he also used his rantings the other day while at the U.N. to distract (although that was meant to distract us from the Kavanaugh hearings and any and all things related to Kavanaugh accusers and victims... poor Donny, he is such a busy thing trying to distract us again and again (and often forgetting what page he's on)).

Can anyone be stupid enough to think an investigation would find anything after 6 background checks? Yes or no will do.

The answer seems to be that demopoops are nearly all that stupid. Paricularly after pretty nearly everybody with brains, talent, and any sort of a sense of values has #walked away from the demopoop plantation and all they have left are the imported voting blocks and the hard-core of indoctrinated.

So you weren't watching the thing yesterday at all, huh. Evidence (or the total lack thereof) was the main problem with the hoe's claim. Demopoops totally failed to produce any evidence of any sort other than the hoe's claim and the claim that she had passed a polygraph, which could easily be explained as programming or brainwashing.

What were you doing yesterday while the nation was watching the hearing? Fishing trip??
